Her chestnut hair billowed softly in the slight autumn breeze. Laughter escaped from her lips in carefree bursts.

She glanced at the bubbly blonde walking beside her.

They stepped off the curb, unaware of anything outside of their bubble of laughter and euphoria.

I saw it. I was paying attention.

It was barreling towards her at breathtaking speed.

I leaped, shoved, fell. She turned quickly as if to yell at me. Her beautiful eyes finally saw me.

She finally saw it. Horror crossed her face instantly.

Then it struck. I flew, for a moment.

Fell, hard.

Reality swirled around me.

I couldn't see her eyes anymore.

Darkness welcomed me like an old friend.
