November 28th; Twenty Seven Days Before ChristmasAs soon as Misaki Perez stepped out from her apartment, she knew that this day was going to go terribly. Firstly, she burnt her breakfast for the day while trying to feed her roommate's cat and was forced to head on with her day on empty stomach. Secondly, all her clothes were dirty and smelt like sweaty socks. And the last reason being, her mother called in the morning and had asked, more like forced, her to come to the Perez's Residence to celebrate the 'joyful and holy festival of Christmas'.
Misaki and Christmas were two things that could never go together. She had spent most of her Decembers these past years, locked up in her room and eating Ramen noodles and she was not planning to change the tradition any time soon. It was so unfair, every single damn thing was decorated with Christmas decoration even though the festival was more than three weeks away. She could never understand the point of this festival. From what she heard, Jesus was not born on December 25, hell, he was not even born in the winter season but that was just her's and some scientists' opinion.
The whole walk to her job was filled with over excited people gushing over the crappy fact that 'their favorite time of the year is here'. Every nerve in her body was telling her to snap at those people but her brain said otherwise. If it wasn't for her brain, she would have killed half of the population of London by now. Misaki was the type of person who acted on her impulse and then she did not even regret what she had done.
"Ms. Perez, it's so good to see you on this lovely day," her coworker, Veronica danced towards Misaki as soon as she entered her workplace.
Besides Christmas, the other thing she hated the most was when someone called her 'Ms. Perez'. She had the name Misaki for a reason.
Misaki plastered a fake smile on her face and replied, "Yeah, sure. What's the theme for today though?"
"Christmas!" Veronica squealed with joy and twirled a little, making her '2012 Ariana Grande type' dress to twirl along with her.
The best way to describe what Misaki was feeling was how the Harry Potter fandom feels about Umbridge which is pure distaste and the need to punch somebody in the bloody nose. Christmas this, Christmas that. All she wanted was a break from this pointless festival of Christmas.
She worked in a radio station as one of the most famous Radio Jockey's assistant. Misaki did love her job but on days like these, it was a huge pain in the ass. Today, her whole work place would be filled with carols and songs like 'O Holy Night', 'Jingle Bell Rock' and many other annoying tunes that would do nothing but fuck with her head.
Veronica started shaking Misaki's shoulder violently, "Oh my, are you alright? You look as if you will murder somebody and we don't want that. No one wants you to go to jail, oh my god. I don't want to go to jail, maybe they will take me with you because I was just here with you and then my mother will kill me—."
Misaki ignored her coworker's rambling and marched towards her boss' office with a furious look. She barged into his office and glared at him with all the fury she could muster but failed because damn, he was an eye candy.
Her boss, Adam Brinley, was a young man in his late twenties with bright green eyes and messy brown hair. His smile could flutter anyone's heart and make them fall on their knees. He was unfortunately Misaki's only weakness and the reason why she was putting up with her job.
