Chapter 24

Just like yesterday, today I woke up in a jump, all cover up with sweat and with the exactly same dream. I don't understand where this dream came from, or why I had this dream two nights.

So as yesterday, I get out of the bed, take a great and quick shower, dress up the last outfit that my backbag contains (I need to pick up more clothes) and I go downstairs.

I'm in the kitchen making my coffee with vodka and looking through the window to the beautiful day that is waiting for me outside. I was never an outside person and I always have prefered the night than the day. The night has always been something mysterious for me and I love that. I pick up my mug and head to the yard. For my surprise, I find Duff sat down on the edge of a deckchair looking down to his lap with a thoughtful expression on his handsome face. I sit down on the next deckchair and glup my combination of coffee and vodka.

"What's up" I say, moving the mug away from my lips.

"Oh, hey. I didn't see you coming." He says, turning to me with a half smile. I don't know if is something wrong going on with Duff, but he doesn't seem fine. Maybe it's just illusions from my mind. But he just doesn't seem fine.

"I noticed." I smile. I really don't know what to say. I didn't expect to find him here so early. I didn't expect to find somebody to be honest, so I didn't prepared a morning conversation. I just came prepared to be alone. I thought my only company would be just the birds singing along with the warm sunlight of a spring morning. I take one more spin of my drink and clean my throat to start a bored and cliché conversation. "So... How have you been?" I ask the stupid question, resting the mug on my knee but still holding it.

"Fine." He shrugs. "You?" He asks and grabs the bottle that is landed on the floor between his feet.

"Fine, as always." I say while he drinks the rest of the liquid that the bottle contained. "Have you seen Jade?" I asked the wrong question. I've shouldn't asked that. He's probably still feeling hurt because of her, and feeling confused about his feelings. He looks down to his feet and glares the empty bottle. A few long seconds later, he lets out a sigh and finally says something.

"I saw her yesterday... We talked about things. I told her about how I was feeling, she said she was sorry and everything is fine now." He says, but I don't believe that everything is fine now. He looks sad and he's not okay.

"So if everything is fine now, why do you look so unhappy?" I ask him softly and low. He lifts his head slowly and looks at me. His brown-grey eyes are sparkling at mine, just like in my dream. Shit. No, don't you dare to think about it now Sheena.

"She said she was gonna compensate me for the two weeks that we didn't see each other, but then I asked her to spend the night here with me, you know, and she refused my propose..." I can see the pain on his eyes as he says these words. What the fuck is wrong with Jade? Why did she say no to him? She never says no. Something is wrong with her and I have to figure it out. I just have one problem. The same as Duff though. I haven't seen Jade in awhile. Every time I call her to see her or something she refuses because she already has plans. At his response for my question I don't know what to say.

"Hmm... Well..." I start, but I stop to see if I can think of something better to say... "You know..." I need more time. I can't think about anything good to say. "Jade is... A weird girl. Incomprehensible..." I start looking around to find something better and then I finally remember something. "Look, Steven invited me to go with him to the spot today. You know very well what, you know, how Steven's afternoons are. So, do you wanna come?" I ask. I hope he says yes. I don't wanna leave him alone. He's not in conditions to be alone and he has to forget all this situation for a while.
