The child squirmed in my arms as I held her, a small grin on my face. Jennifer, was her name according to Sable.
"Isn't she beautiful?" A voice said with bitterness. "She's just like her mother in appearance."
"Mm," I said, barely listening to Frenzy. Frenzy was one of the few people who worked for me, and frankly that was fine. I needed her and she needed me. "Quite. Tell me, who's her mother again?"
"Jordan Foreigner," Frenzy responded, peering over my shoulder and looking at the child with a distaste I couldn't understand. I myself am unable to have children, so these two were my only hope.
"Where's the boy?" I asked sharply, squinting my eyes at Frenzy and rocking the baby in my arms as she whined.
"Asleep in the other room." The woman lowered her head out of respect.
"Good." I nodded and turned my full attention back on the baby. "She's such a beautiful child," I cooed. "And she's all mine now."
