"Coralline!" A familiar voice called out as I walk around the village. I turned around and grinned as I saw the two familiar twins I've grown up with. Aila and Gilroy both have blonde hairs and gold eyes. They are the daughter and son of the head of the guardians of Sonetianum. Also, their parents are our family's closest friend.
"Aila, Gilroy." I acknowledge and they bowed before me, trying to suppress a chuckle. I rolled my eyes and shook my head in disbelief. "Really? You're both doing that again? When are you guys giving up?"
"Never. You're majesty." Gilroy grinned.
"Come on. We need to get ready for the gathering tonight. Your mother is already searching for you." Aila said, excitedly. I smiled at her as I thought of another gathering. You see, the gatherings are held every end of the year. It is the way of my parents to interact with all of the people in our land. It’s usually filled with music, dancing and short plays. Aila pulled me with her as we head back to the kingdom while Gilroy walks behind us. After a while, Gilroy separated from us.
We walked towards my room and saw my mother with some servants and other people, waiting. Mother has the same reflection as mine. We both have dark brown eyes and dark brown hair.
“There you are! Come on. Time is running out and we need to be ready.” Mother pulled me with her and I sat on the chair in front of the mirror. They started to fix my hair and put some make up in my face. When I was finished, they started to fix up Aila next as mother gave me a pair of gold earrings, gold necklace and my little gold crown.
I changed into my beautiful blue silk long gown with sleeves that ended up in my elbow and glitters at the top. Aila changed into her own pink gown and when we’re all ready, we all head down to the venue.
Aila separated from us when we got there and my mother and I head to the throne where my father is already waiting. Father sat in his throne and his eyes were watching everyone as they gather around and dance to the music that is playing. My reflection is more of my Mother’s and I didn’t even get a single feature from my Father which is kind of weird. Mother sat beside him and Father looked at her with awe and love I’ve witness for every single day we live.
“Hello Father.” I greeted and he looked at me.
“Coralline.” He smiled, the corner of his eyes wrinkling with joy. “You look so beautiful, princess.”
I grinned and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
“Can I go now?” I asked and they both nodded at me. I left them to find my friends and when I found them, we all went to the center to dance. Suddenly, someone pulled me and I felt myself slamming on his chest.
“Do I get to dance with the princess now?” Gilroy smiled and I smiled back as we swayed to the beat.
We were all having fun when we suddenly heard a loud explosion outside, causing everyone to stop and scream in surprise.
“What is that?” I asked, startled as we heard another loud explosion and a blazing fire started to flare outside. Everyone became alarmed and the guardians started to head outside as I felt Gilroy grab my hand and tug me with him.
“We need to go.” He said and I nodded in agreement as we fought our way through the panicking crowd. In my years of existence in this world, everything was peaceful. There were no wars or anything except I know that a former close friend of my father from another world called Morsonetians became the rival of ours.
My father told me that he rejected the proposition of Hovar, the leader of the Morsonetian coven also called as Morsoans, a long time ago, when the leader wants my father to help them in their plan to take over the other existing worlds one by one. You see, our dimension is the most powerful at all since we were the ones who have the ‘Briellin’, a powerful thing in a shape of a diamond that our ancestors found years ago. It is said that ‘Briellin’ is the key to ruling other worlds, so I guess that is why Hovar wants my father to help him and when my father rejected, he got angry at him.
Gilroy and I found my parents in the headquarters with the head of the guardians, Borgey.
“Mother, Father. What’s happening?” I asked in panic as they all looked at me, stressed. We can still hear the sound of explosions outside and people screaming, which is terrifying.
“The Morsoans.” My father simply said and I waited for further information. “I know what they want, but we have to protect it. If they lay a hand on the Briellin, every planet will be endangered.”
“I know sire. What do you suppose we do?” Borgey asked.
“We need to hide it somewhere far from our world and theirs.” Mother replied and looked at me.
“I think you’re right Sapphira.” My father said. Father has the power to read minds, you see.
“What?” I asked in confusion.
“Coralline. You’re our only hope.” Father said as he walks towards me, grimly. “You can protect it.”
“What? How?”
“You have the power to go to places without the use of your power. You can go out of this world unnoticed.” He continued.
“Are you saying that I leave and protect it?” I asked, terrified at their decision.
“You’re our only hope Coralline.” Mother told me and my eyes started to water. Only hope. My power to teleport is not used for protecting things, but I guess if it means to save the worlds, it’ll be okay right? And they won’t even know or guess where I’m going, like what they say.
“I’ll do it.” I said bravely, pushing back my tears. Father pulled me into a tight hug and I wrapped back my arms around him. Mother walked towards me and hugged me too.
“I’ll come with her. She can’t go alone. I’ll protect her.” I heard Gilroy spoke up and I looked at him with alarm. “I’ll protect you.”
“You’re right, son. The princess must have someone to look after her.” Borgey agreed and I shook my head.
“I can handle it alone.” I said and mother placed her hand in my shoulder.
“Gilroy will come with you, Coralline.” She told me and I let out a sigh. Father walked towards the hidden secret chamber in the disguised wall and touched it. He closed his eyes in concentration and the wall started to crackle. The wall burst open and we saw the Briellin placed there. The last time I saw it was when I was a toddler. He grabbed it before closing the crack of the wall.
“Here.” He handed it to me as I watch it glow and I looked back at them with sad eyes.
“Sire. We need to go. The guardians told me that Hovar is already in the kingdom.” Borgey said in alarm.
“Go. We’ll come for you Coralline.” Father said and I nodded, holding back my tears. They both hugged me and mother whispered into my ear, “Take care, my dear. We love you. And remember, whatever happens. We are your family and this is home.”
They both released me and father finally said, “You’re a brave girl.”
The three of them left the room in a hurry and Gilroy and I looked at each other. I took his hand and he nodded at me.
“Just imagine what we learned about the Earth.” I told him and hugged him as he hugged me back. “You ready?”
“As long as you are.” Gilroy answered.
“Close your eyes and dream.” I said and I vision the Earth, the world I wished to go to. I concentrated as I felt the both of us float in a gleaming light. This is it. I’m finally going to that place, but I must remind myself that I’m only there for a while and with a mission. A mission that will save the dimensions.
