As they walked through the fields of blue Splat would occasionally look beck at treble trying to figure this strange being out, but as soon as Treble looked up at the seeker quickly looked forward.
Occasionally, Treble would pluck blades of the blue grass and weave them together. With the grass being so long, it took little time for the husky to create a pair of loose fitting pants held up by a belt. He stopped momentarily to put them on and then he ripped off from the knee down of his pants, preferring them as shorts before he quickly caught up with splat.
After hearing the fast approaching steps of the husky, Splat turned around looked up at the canine with a confused expression
"Where did you get that?" The seeker asked demandingly.
"Get what?" He asked as he plucked a few blades of the blue grass and weaved them together.
"The shorts! Where did you find them?"
Splat's tail was swishing side to side in a bit of aggravation.
"I made them?" Said the husky as he placed a weaved ring atop Splat's head causing the seeker's cheeks to become warm with white.
"I hope you don't mind me asking..." Said Treble with an embarrassed expression clearly on his face "but are you a boy or a girl?"
Splat looked hurt, "I'm a girl..." She said as her ears lowered.
"I-I'm so sorry  he said, splaying his ears out and walking away with his face in his paws.
"W-where are you going! Come back, please!" She said with tears welling up in her eyes "D-don't leave.... I know I don't look like one but I am a girl..."
Treble stopped, uncovering his slightly wetted face and spoke softly as he turned around
"I-I hurt you..."
Splat walked up to him, placing her fore feet on his shoulders to balance as she stood on her hind legs, and licked his face.
"It was an honest mistake and I should of told you th-" she squeaked as Treble wrapped his arms around her and hugged tightly. Splat rested her head on the husky's shoulder, enjoying the warmth of his fur, and gave him a reassuring lick
"You're scared..." she said as Treble lowered his ears.
"Is it that obvious?" Treble stammered. "Yeah it is"' she said as she lifted her head from his shoulder.
"Y-you can let me down now" realizing that her hind feet were no longer on the ground. Treble quickly set her down and let go "s-sorry."
"Come on" She said, "we better get you to shelter, night is coming." The husky nodded a followed closely behind Splat as she led him to an outcrop of trees made of stone.
'Wow' he thought as he reached to touch one of the trees and was stopped by Splat pushing him away from it. Treble yelps laying dazed on his back
"H-hey! What was that f-" suddenly a large red limb falls from the tree and cratered into the ground. Splat who is now laying on top of the husky, pants heavily
"Y-you're welcome" she said still regaining her breath.
Splat crawled off of Treble allowing him up "we better move before the ants drop a tree on us".
"A-ants?" he asked. A loud cracking noise is heard from above.
"I'll explain later! Just follow me and keep up!" She said as she bolted forward and Treble soon followed close behind as limbs fall from the trees left and right. As they run a narrow root trips Splat and sends her down to the ground, Treble quickly scoops her up and continues to run. A limb lands so close behind them that Treble feels it brush against the fur of his tail.
They finally make it to a clearing and Treble pants heavily as he sets Splat down before he faints and nearly falls on top of her. Splat quickly moved under the husky, catching him on her back and being forced to lay down under the weight.
She heaves herself up and carries him on her back. After crawling a good ways she gently lays the husky down and lays next to him draping a wing over him in order to keep him warm. For the frigid night has just begun.
