I was in a dark place and I was lost. The ground was all mucky and the trees were spooky. "Hello?" I called out. A tabby she-cat stepped out of the shadows. "Hello Featherkit. Do you remember me?" meowed the she-cat. "You're the voice inside my head. Is this Starclan?" I gasp. "Good. Yes. Do you know what clan I am?" meowed the cat coming closer. I remember from the elders's tales that Shadowclan cats have thinner fur than us, Riverclan cats are sleek and well-fed and Windclan cats are thin and have long-limbs. This cat didn't have any of these qualties. Her back legs were strong and her frame was light but strong. "No. What clan are you?" I asked, my silver ears perking up. "I am from Skyclan, little one." Her voice was thick and sweet as honey. "Where are they then?" I asked growing more confused by the minute. "Far away from here. Do you wish how to be a Skyclan cat, since it runs in your blood?"
"Yes please! But what is your name?" "Brambleheart, Featherkit. Now what skill do you want to learn first: tree jumping, fighting or hunting?" "Tree-jumping!" I meowed, jumping high in the air in excitement. "Good choice. You have the natural leap of a Skyclan cat. Now watch what I do." She leaped high up in the air and landed on a tree branch high above my head. "Now leap Featherkit!" I tensed my muscles, focused on the branch and leaped! I went high up in the air landed on the branch gracefully next to Brambleheart. "Good job. Now jump to that branch." She meowed, pointing with her tail to the tree branch on another tree twice the distance than the branch she was on. "That far....." I muttered, feeling discouraged. "Well here's your chance to prove that you're not weak. Or was I wrong about you Featherkit? That Starclan was wrong to choose you?" "You were right to choose me, Brambleheart!" I hissed, enraged. I leapt as hard as I could and barely reached the branch. As I clawed my way on the branch, my claws got pulled out and one of my legs hurt. On the branch I yowled, "I made it! Now, why don't you do it, Brambleheart!" "All right then." Brambleheart leapt and landed on the branch with ease.
"Now, Featherkit, its almost dawn. Don't tell any one about our meetings. Now jump to the ground." I jumped to the ground and fell on my face. As I got up, I saw that my soft pads were cracked, three claws were missing from both forepaws and that I pulled one of my leg muscles. Then, I was back in the nest with Dovewing. "What happened to you?!" yowled Dovewing, waking the whole camp. I looked at my paws. Turns out that my wounds are real.
I tried standing up but remembered at the last second that I pulled my leg muscle. "Owww.." I moaned, pain shooting through my side as I fell down. A dark force came up behind my eyes. I blinked trying to see the fuzzy shapes surrounding me. I felt a cat pick me up and carry me past the fuzzy shapes, almost running. The darkness over took me and the last thing I saw was the greenness of the medince cat den.
