••Flashback••
I lightly tapped my my fingers on Steven's bare chest, concentrating on my thoughts.
"Whatcha thinking about?" Steven asked, running his fingers through my hair. The two of us were laying in bed late at night, basically doing nothing.
"Hmm?"
"You look very deep in thought," he chuckled and I sat up, looking down at him. "So whatcha thinking about?"
"Nothing," I lied, with a small smirk. I leaned down and kissed his lips, feeling nothing but pure love. "I-" I was quickly cut off by the sound of a high pitched scream.
Without wasting any time, I jumped up and ran down the hallway to Emmie's room, Steven right behind me. My foot practically kicked the door down and my eyes frantically searched the room for Emmie. After a second, I spotted her curled up in a ball in the corner of the room.
Steven and I both quickly rushed to her and Steven wrapped the crying child up in his arms. "Shhh, it's okay, Em," he said and I stroked Emmie's hair gently. "It's okay."
Emmie looks up at me with a tear streaked face. "You said Joana wouldn't come back....you were wrong, Lauren, you were wrong!"
It had just been a few days since Joana had attacked Emmie and caused Steven's house to catch on fire.
"She's in my dreams now. She turns them into nightmares," she mumbled, clinging onto Steven's arm tightly.
"You just gotta remember that nightmares aren't real, Em," Steven said.
"Joana is in prison right now for hurting you," I added. "She can't get to you. We won't let her hurt you again." I reached out to hug her. "I promise."
••Flashback over••
My arms held Caiden tightly to my chest as I held in my tears that threatened to fall. I refused to revive any more medical help until I could see Steven. I had Caiden, and I was grateful for that, but I needed to see my husband.
"Dadadada!" Caiden cried, wanting Steven.
"I know baby boy," I sniffled. "I want daddy too."
"Emmm," he whimpered, asking for Emmie now.
Emmie.
That's when I couldn't keep in the tears anymore. They all poured out of my eyes continuously with no stop. Luckily, I was the only one in the waiting room at the time.
Suddenly, I heard the door open and I stood up quickly when I realized it was Emily. "Lauren..." She began and engulfed me in a hug.
"I'm okay, I'm okay," I insisted.
"No you're no, Lauren!" She whisper shouted.
"Mrs. Yeun?" A deep voice asked. Emily and I turned around to see a doctor in a white coat. "If you wish to see your husband, you can."
My heart nearly skipped a beat in that moment, and Emily took Caiden from my arms. "I'll watch him," she said with a nod. I gave a small smile in return, and quickly followed the doctor down the hall.
"He's in there," the man said. "I'll leave you two alone."
"Thank you."
I didn't hesitate to open the door, but I quickly stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Steven. His skin was completely pale, just like Emmie's was when I saw her.
Emmie.
I approached the bed, trying to take in everything at once. Behind Steven's bed were tons of beeping machines, on being an IV that trailed down to his hand. Steven had no shirt off with a large bandage over his heart.
My hand grabbed onto one of his tightly, and I kissed it multiple times as tears dropped down.
"Steven please," I sobbed and carefully crawled into the bed next to him. There was just enough space for me to cuddle up next to him. "Please stay with me." My hand gripped onto the sheets that came up to Steven's waist. "You know I can't do this without you. You're not allowed to leave me. Okay?"
I sat up and leaned down, pressing my shaky lips to his cold ones. My tears rolled down down my cheeks and onto his. "I love you, I love you, Steven."
"I love you too, Laur," Steven groaned in a raspy voice.
"Oh my god!" I cried out with a smile, kissing him over and over again before placing my face in the crook of his neck.
"Are you okay?" He asked me and I nodded quickly. "Where Emmie?! Is she okay?!" My smile fell at his words, not knowing what to tell him. "Laur....please tell me," Steven croaked out, his eyes already starting to water.
What do I tell him?
°•°Steven's POV°•°
I waited as Lauren looked at me with sad, bloodshot eyes. "She..." Lauren began, and I could tell that she was close to sobbing again. "H-her heart stopped t-this morning."
Everything around me felt as if it had frozen. My whole entire world came crashing down in that short, painful moment. I didn't know what emotions to feel.
Anger?
Rage?
Devastation?
"NO!" I yelled out, sitting up and pounding my fists on the bed. "NO, PLEASE NO!" I ignored all the physical pain I was feeling and started thrashing around in anger on the hospital bed. "WHY WOULD YOU FUCKING DO THIS TO ME?!" I didn't even know who I was yelling at.
"My little girl," I whispered, tears constantly flowing out of my eyes.
Hope was lost.
Hope was gone.
Emmie was gone.

So saddddd *sobs*Chapter question (So I can try to make the story better): How would you rate this book from 1-10??
So something happened on Friday that actually made me feel really wanted. I was at taekwondo (I'm a black belt in marital arts if you didn't know) and it was one of the worser days at school, so I was crying in the bathroom during practice and two guys around my age (I won't say their names so I'll just call them C and D cause that's what their names start with) , found me and asked what all the huge, gross bruises down my arms were and I told them about the bullying and C said, "I really wish I could beat those guys up for doing something like that to you." And then D said, "Yeah, you and me C, we will beat them up." I'm probably just weird but that seriously made me smile for the first time in a while. It gave me hope. Lol sorry I probably sound weird.
Chapter shoutout goes to ApocalypticHalfblood !
