Today I don't feel like doing anything.
I just wanna lay in my bed.
Don't feel like picking up my phone,
So leave a message at the tone,
'Cause today I swear I'm not doing anything.
That song is officially stuck in my head, but it explains my mood today. Last night did not really go according to plan. I don't know what plan I'm talking about, but either way it was horrible. I was seriously embarrassed at what I did. I really don't want to go into any details, but let's just say that after Riley and I went downstairs with the bag, I took Brian aside and told him I was feeling ill and I wanted to go home. Yes, I know it could've been a lot worse than it had been, but I really didn't want him to think I was bailing out on him and I couldn't handle something so simple.
Today started out as any other morning, walking into the recording studio a little earlier than I need to be with of course my Starbucks coffee in my hand. I turned to an empty hallway and started to head to studio B, where I normally recorded, until I heard a voice shouting my name. It sounded familiar, but it’s too early in the morning to think where I heard it before. I stopped to turn around to look for the mystery person, but strangely no one was behind me. Ignoring the call, I continued to walk further down the hallway.
“Jessica,” the mystery voice called again. Once again I turned around to spot Danielle, Mr. Collin’s assistant, speed walking from the far end of the hallway with her heels clacking to catch up with me.
“Jess, didn’t you hear me before? I kept calling you,” she said approaching me. She looked slightly annoyed and extremely tired. I wonder how much she gets paid to be Mr. Collins’ all-time assistant.
“Sorry, it’s just…. It’s too early for my brain to function right now,” I said coming up with a pathetic excuse.
“You know what, just forget it. Mr. Collins wants to see you right away. Follow me please,” Danielle turned and started to walk the opposite direction with me following behind. After walking for five minutes and dealing with an uncomfortable silence, we arrived in front of Mr. Collin’s door. Danielle knocked on the large red colored door while I stayed quiet.
“Come in,” Mr. Collins’ voice was faintly heard through the door. After Danielle led me in, she walked out of the room without spearing me a second glance.
As I took a seat, I couldn’t help but to look around his office. This is the third time I’ve been in this room and it still amazes me, the view from the window was spectacular. The first time I’ve been here was a little over month ago when Mr. Collins called my mother and me in to set up my schedule. Another one of those times was when I met Logan. Speaking of Logan, I wonder if he’s pissed off at me for not texting him back last night. He also left me a few voice mails asking me where I was and to call him back. When I got home last night I was too tired to do anything.
“So, is there a reason you wanted to see me sir?” I asked politely. The sooner I get through this meeting, the sooner I can record then go home and watch reruns of my guilty pleasure Project Runway.
“Yes, there is something I want to talk to you about,” he started to shuffle the papers on his desk, “so because of the little interview you did and also the article about you and Darcy in People Magazine, your name is starting to come out to the people. This is good for publicity, but we need more of it. So the other executives, Logan, and I agreed to put out the first song you recorded on itunes. We decided that Fireworks is a great dance song and people will immediately love it when they first hear it. We’re probably going to put it out this Friday, which is in five days,” Mr. Collins informed me. I couldn’t help but to be excited, maybe a little too excited. My heart was pounding and my legs started to shake with excitement.
