My name is Sara Robbins and my life is a complete and utter mess. I've never had many friends, all the girls I went to school with growing up would rather spend their day at the mall or spa while I preferred the gym or the track. Sports were my escape from life.
I wasn't very pretty but I wasn't necessarily ugly either. I was just an average girl, another face in the crowd. The only thing that stood out about me was that I was the main target of the bullying at my school. I was a loner and that was the way I liked it.
I didn't have any siblings growing up and my family, outside of my parents, all lived in the States. I have lived in the town of Essex in the UK since I was six. That's why I was bullied at school, I was an outsider.
My parents were just that, parents. We were never super close, they always told me I seemed distant from everything. But just because my parents weren't my best friends doesn't mean I didn't love them. My life got completely flipped upside down when they died six months ago.
I had plenty of money to live of off. My dad was a high-class surgeon and my mom had been a successful lawyer. They had always put away loads of money for an emergency situation like the one I was living in.
I sold our house and just bought a room in the hotel I work at. There were twenty floors and I lived in the top one. There were six other rooms up here which were usually rented out by popular celebrities. I didn't really care about celebrities. You get used to them with this kind of job and I just didn't care about people in general. The rooms here were nice enough, consisting of a kitchen, living room, and bedroom with a king sized bed.
I worked for the hotel doing room service. I delivered food and sometimes was a maid if we were short on staff. The only bad thing about the job was the uniform. Khakis and dark green shirt that was not flattering on anyone.
It was 7:00 a.m. when I clocked in to start my day at work. My brown hair normally fell to my chest but was back in a braid today to keep it out of my face. I hardly wore my hair down because 1) I hated having it in my face and 2) I always wear it up for sports which I was doing if I wasn't working or sleeping.
"We are going to be getting a lot of food orders for the next week on your floor, Sara," my co worker Becca told me. "A bunch of guys rented the floor except for your room of course."
"I'll take them up. That way I can make sure they don't mess with my room." I told her. I constantly checked my room when there were guests on the top floor ever since it was broken into by one of Bruno Mars' security guards. Needless to say he was fired and I've been super cautious ever since.
"Okay, well they just ordered some chocolate chip cookies and carrot cake so it's time to start your first trip up. Room 2003."
I went to the kitchen to pick up the order. There must be a lot of people because all three shelves of the cart were filled with plates of carrot cake and warm cookies. I said hi to the cooks as I walked out of the kitchen with the cart in tow. I pushed my button on the elevator and rode up to my floor. My door was untouched. I rolled the cart halfway to the hall approaching room 2003.
"Room service!" I called as I knocked on the door.
"FOOD!" I heard what sounded like a stampede coming to the door. It was flung open to reveal a blonde boy around my age. "Thank you! We're absolutely starved!" He exclaimed.
"Okay?" I replied awkwardly. I rolled the cart in the room which was occupied by four other boys who had various shades of brown hair. They all seemed around the same age. "Here is your carrot cake and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. If there is anything else you need, please don't hesitate to call room service. Have a nice day." I gave them the same reply I give all the other guests. As I turned to leave I could hear them run over to the cart of food.
"I'll come back to get the cart in half an hour." I told them. "If you do not plan on being here please leave it outside the room."
"Thank you," they chorused from behind me.
By the way these boys ate, I knew I would be coming up here often.
