In less than 3 months, my entire life had been irrevocably changed forever. Suddenly I found myself living in a world where I was not just a student in high school anymore, but now an orphan with a responsibility to care for my abandoned little niece. This all happened when my entire family chose to go on a vacation to Mexico. Everyone boarded a plane together, my parents, grandparents, my brothers, my aunts, uncles, and cousins. I was supposed to get back from cheer camp and catch the plane the next day with my sister-in-law and young niece. That never happened.
My entire family died in that plane crash. My sister-in-law was named my guardian and drank herself practically to death, never leaving the house. She didn't need to work, neither of us. My entire family's insurance and government benefits were left to me and totaled up to be somewhere near 8 million dollars. Plus the fact that my dad and uncle's had made some pretty good investments before they died. I would've given all of that money to see my family just one more time.
My niece began to call me her "mama" and my sister-in-law didn't even seem to care! She was so far gone in her heart and mind by then. Then one day I came home and she was...well, dead. I was sick of moping around and I was sick of all the pity.
