As much as I hated going to class, I still gathered my books, and waited for the receptionist to call all juniors down to the classroom. I would skip, but I knew that if I did, a nurse or doctor would be on the look out for me, its happened before.
"BING- All juniors, please head down to the classroom, thank you." The receptionist says through the speaker. I grab my things and walk out of my room, Sarah following me. Both of us walk down the stairs to the first floor. Dallas and Donnie, who believe it or not, also is anorexic, were waiting for us at the desk. They started walking and we followed.
"Why don't you two just take the elevator, you'd get here a lot faster." Donnie says.
I roll my eyes, "What makes you think I want to get to class on time? Besides, one day, the cord that keeps that elevator working is going to snap." I say walking into the class.
Donnie and Sarah sit next to each other, and me and Dallas take our seats, Dallas in front of me. Normally when I get to class, Benji is already in the seat next to mine, but today, he wasn't.
"Ms. Briant, where's Benji?" I ask setting my things down.
"Mr. Lapore is excused today, he has a new medication, harder for him to focus or stay awake." She tells us, "But, we have a new student today, who will be taking Benji's seat for now." I frown and sigh, of course the new kid would be sitting next to me, I was going to have to help the new kid. I never did so good with meeting new people, but everyone I've met here, so far, have been great people. Maybe because we all know we're misfits.
I pull out my notebook, waiting for someone to break this crippling silence. Finally someone walks in, a boy. He was tall, with black hair spiked up, and a pale face. He looked angry, scared and sad all at the same time.
"Oh, everyone this is Finnley-" the boy cut her off.
"It's Finn." He says in a deep raspy voice. I couldn't stop staring, I just kept looking at him, I wandered if I was making him uncomfortable, so I finally pulled my eyes away.
"I apologize." Ms. Briant says, "Finn, he's new her, so lets treat him with respect please. Finn, you can sit next to Tina." She looked at me. I raise my hand like the fool I am. As if he didn't realize that I was the only sitting on my own. He made his way over to me, and I forced myself to put my hand down. He grumble lowly 'Hi' before grabbing a notebook and setting it in front of him.
"Hi, I'm Tina." I said, "Well...obviously." I said after. My social anxiety getting the best of me. I'm not the new one, he is, so why am I becoming so nervous.
Ms. Briant started class, and asked us to answer a couple questions in our notebooks. Most of the time, Finn was quiet, and didn't look at me much. Near the end of class, I glanced over at his notebook to see if he was writing anything down. Whilst doing so, I noticed his wrist. I tried to keep myself from gasping, seeing the bright pink scars puffed up with irritation. He looked at me right as I looked away.
"If you wanted the answers, all you had to do is ask." He whispered close to my ear. By this time, Ms. Briant was asking us to clean up to leave.
" I wasn't looking at your answers." I half lied, "I was looking at your wrist." I whispered the last part. He looked down and silently pulled and stretched his sweater sleeve down over his large hand.
