Chapter 4 •Why do bad things happen to good people•

•Lily's POV•
The next morning I had school so I walked to my bathroom and took a shower. After that I walked downstairs and grabbed a bowl of cereal. I finished my cereal and then grabbed my backpack. I opened the front door and saw Nathan standing there.

"Nathan?" I questioned
"Hey Lily" Nathan said smiling
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"I wanted to walk to school with you today, if that's ok with you" He said blushing
"Yeah that's fine" I explained. I closed the door and locked it. Nathan and I started walking to school. While we were walking I felt Nathan's hand brush against mine. I blushed but grabbed his hand and intertwined our fingers. I saw Nathan look at me from the corner of my eye but I smiled.

When we got to school everybody's eyes  were on Nathan and I's hands. Including Henry, Charlotte, Jasper, and Crystal. I walked up to them and smiled.

"Hey guys, this is Nathan" I said smiling. I saw Charlotte look at Henry and Henry looking down. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion but shrugged it off.
"Nice to meet you Nathan I'm Charlotte" Charlotte said shaking his hand. Nathan shook her hand back and smiled.
"I'm Jasper" Jasper said shaking his hand
"I'm Crystal" Crystal said shaking his hand
"And I'm...I'm Henry" Henry said shaking his hand with a firm grip. Nathan pulled back and nervously chuckled.
"So are two a thing" Charlotte asked
"Uh, no?" I said as more of a question
"Well I wanted to ask you something Lily" Nathan said. I saw Henry's head perk up.
"What is it?" I asked
"Would you like to-" Nathan got cut off by Henry
"On no we're going to be late for class. I guess your going to have to ask her later" Henry said pulling my arm and dragging me to class. I looked at Nathan and gave him a sympathetic look.

Henry pulled me into a empty classroom and locked the door.

"Henry this isn't even history" I said
"I know but I need to talk with you" He said
"About what?" I asked
"About us" he said looking into my eyes
"Henry! There's nothing to talk about. There is no us. We are over. So go back to Crystal" I said
"No, because if I do then you'll go back to Nathan" he said
"And?" I questioned
"I don't want you to like him" he said
"I can like whoever I want, you're the one who ruined our relationship. You are the one who cheated on me. You are- you know what. I'm not doing this anymore. I've explained this too many times" I said as I left him speechless in the empty classroom.

•Henry's POV•
I'm so frustrated right now. It physically hurts to know that she might end up with Nathan. I left the classroom and walked to history.

When I got there I saw Nathan whisper something into Lily's ear and she laughed. I scoffed and focused my attention back to the teacher.

*After school at the man cave*

After school Charlotte, Crystal, Lily, and I walked to the man cave. We got in the elevator and screamed going down.

We all stumbled out of the elevator.

"Where Ray?" Lily asked
"I don't know, why don't you ask Nathan" I sternly said. Charlotte, Crystal, and Lily stared at me in disbelief. "I mean, why don't you go to safe haven?" I said as more of a question. Charlotte rolled her eyes and sat down at the computer. Crystal grabbed my hand and pulled me into a corner. I looked at Lily and she was on her phone texting someone. It was probably Nathan because she was smiling.

"Henry" Crystal said snapping her fingers in front of my face.
"What" I snapped. She shrunk away from me and looked down. "I'm sorry baby, I'm just stressed" I said
"It's ok, but maybe I can relive some of that stress for you" she said grabbing my hands and setting them down on her waist. I smirked and leaned down and connected my lips with hers. I felt nothing, not even a spark. I pulled away and smiled. More like a fake smile. We left the corner and saw Lily jumping around with Charlotte.

"Uh...what's happening?" I asked
"Nathan just asked me on a date" Lily said. No, this can't be happening. I let go of Crystals hand and went up the tube. I ran home and climbed up my tree. I flopped down on my bed and actually started crying. I need to break up with Crystal. I want Lily back, I need her. I know what I have to do.

•Lily's POV•
"Why did Henry just leave like that?" I asked
"I know why" Charlotte pulling my arm and pulling me to a corner
"Why did he run out like that?" I asked
"Because he's jealous" Charlotte said
"Of what" I asked
"Nathan. He loves you Lily. Crystal is just a distraction from you. That's why he keeps staring at you, that's why he pulled you away from Nathan this morning, and that's why he ran out just a minute ago" Charlotte said. Oh god I feel so bad. I put him through that much. I mean, I still love Henry. But I thought he didn't love me. I need to go to him.
"Oh god Charlotte. I gotta find Henry. Thanks for telling me" I said as I ran to the elevator. I ran to the park to tell Nathan I can't date him. I saw him sitting down at a bench.

"Nathan!" I yelled. His head perked up and he ran towards me.
"Lily, I'm glad you came I-" I stopped him right there.
"I can't date you Nathan" I said
"What? Why!" He asked
"Because I'm in love with Henry and I need to get back together with him" I said. That was the worst mistake I ever made.
"That's not ok Lily, I guess I'm going to have to make you love me" Nathan said reaching into his pocket. I have him a confused look. He pulled out a needle. I froze. He came closer and sunk the needle into my skin. I started run away but my vision became blurry and I collapsed.
