Chapter 32
Justin's POV.
I carefully eased out of bed and crept around the bed. Alexis had been crying her heart out in bed every since she told me the news. It hurt me, and I tried soothing her in many ways, but nothing would convice her that she hadn't done a thing wrong. it wasn't her fault the man attempted rape on her and kissed her. I just know it wasn't. It doesn't matter if I wasn't in the room with her. I lowered my lips to her forehead and whispered a few quiet words, though she was exhausted into a deep sleep. Silently I exited the room and mad emy way dwon the stairs to the kitchen where murmuring occured. My family was gathered at the dining table making gestures as of to what was bothering Alexis. "Think their getting a divorce?" Someone asked doubtfully. I wouldn't let anyone else shoot that thought down first so I immediately answered, "A divorce is never in opinion for us. I'm sure any guess you have made have been far from right." "Justin.." My mother shook her head at my glaring and motioned me by her side. "Is Alexis okay? The poor girl looked like she was ready to break down tramitized." "Don't talk about this near her but.. Alexis had an interview in New York for her grandfather's company and today the owner tried.. taking advantage of her." My words practically caught in my throat and made my insides cave with hurt. "Oh my.. How?" "He kissed her... And tried to undo her dress. I should have been with her. What if she'd actually been raped?" "Justin, calm down." My mother continued talking softly to me but I drained her voice out and attempted to lower my anger building. I could have prevented Alexis's incident..
*~*~*
"Mmm.." The sleeping beauty in my arms whimpered of morning tiredness and rolled in my arms. I smiled to myself and gripped her hips, rolling her to face me and leaning our foreheads to one another. I rewrapped her skinny body in my embrace and pecked her rosey lips. "Are you alright?" My voice was barely heard but she sighed in response and snuggled closer. The room was oddly cold this morning. "As fine as I can get." "Alright. Well we'll have to get up soon and get ready. My great grandparents will be here by one." "Hold me for a few more minutes please." "No rejection." Giggling softly she buried her face in my chest and relaxed for a bit longer.

I quickly caught her waist with my arm and spun her to add to the excitement. It's Christmas, why not make it exciting in any way possible? "Merry Christmas, my beautiful love." I stated before placing a kiss on her cheek. "Merry Christmas, Justin." She slightly giggled, politely easing my away by placing her hand on my chest. What's wrong with her? I mean.. I know she just went through almost rape last night but maybe something more happened than she's telling.
End of POV.

Pattie's POV.
I glanced across the kitchen as I mixed the pancake batter. My sight landed on Justin and Alexis, the adoring view turning heart-hurting. It was always warming to watch their cute gestures to one another but always saddening when it's something unpleasant. It was unusual when one pushed the other away, so it was obvious something was distracting, and breaking, Alexis when she did the unexpected. Her actions without a doubt pained Justin inside. He dropped his arms and stared after her, eyes glistening and hurt shown in his orbs.

Chapter 33

Pattie's POV.
An hour later everyone was boarding into vehicules after breakfast and Justin halted me in the dining room. "Mom," He began, pain still in his eyes and now his voice. Alexis has been distant all morning, and it killed him whenever she would do such a thing. "I don't know what to do. I'm afraid of upsetting her more if I talk to her and ask what's wrong." "Just give her space. She will open up eventually if you don't bother her and give her time." "But it's Christmas." I sighed, nodding. "I know, I know. But what she went through last night was harsher than it sounds I'm sure." Justin sniffled and slammed his fist on the dining table, walking away after that. No surprise there. I silently followed him out the door and locked. When I turned around Justin was paused on the first porch step, eyes locked with Alexis's. She pushed herself off the cement of the porch and attempted to speak. She failed though, and lightly stopped Justin's out reaching arm towards her. With a weak, barely-existing smile, she pecked his cheek and jogged down the few steps. "See, she just needs a little bit of time." "How much is a little though?" He murmured back. His head ducked in shame. He knows he should have gone to New York with her. "Try during the tree search." "Whatever." He murmured and headed towards his father's car. I caught up with Alexis and perusaded her to ride with me alone.

"Alexis?" I gently spoke after long minutes of silence. We were halfway to the nursing home where my grandparents, Justin's dying great grandparents, were awaiting the family. "Hm?" "Do you mind if we talk about the New York incident or you and Justin?" "I guess we can." Nervously, she wiped her palms on her jeans and exhaled. "Alrighty then. What was this morning about? Not wanting Justin to touch you or be around you?" "I don't mean this in a harsh way, Pattie, but it's just that.. Justin and I are always together. Always. And after another man tried violating me, I don't know. Something just unclicked." "How? As in you don't want to be with him anymore?" "I'll always want Justin. I just meant that I feel strange with him suddenly and I wish we had a little bit more time apart." "That's understanding. But, Alexis, please tell my son that soon. He's crazier about you than you think. And it hurts him when you're hurt, it actually kills him, and it breaks his heart the exact same way when you force him away." For a moment I studied her features and saw that she knew exactly what I meant. "Did he tell you the recent news yet?" She suddenly asked, finally building the cougar to look at me. "I don't think so. What's up?" "A few days ago in Hawaii I was feeling unnormally sick so Justin took me to the hospital." "Are you alright?" "Not exactly. I found out I can't have kids." A gasp escaped and I glanced her way quickly. "Alexis Honey, are you positive?" "From what they said, yeah." "Sometimes test and results are wrong. Even at hospitials." "Well.. I haven't told Justin but lately I've been morning sick every other day and a small bump is forming on my lower stomach." I grinned, aweing in my mind. "You know what, we have a family perfectionist doctor and I think we should take you to him to get checked out." "I don't want Justin knowing quit yet though." "That's fine. We'll come up with an excuse." "How soon?" "Tomorrow night I'm sure." Alexis relaxed in her seat and sighed of relief. "Thank you, Pattie." I nodded, still smiling, and pulled into a parking way of the nursing home.

Chapter 34

Justin's POV.
"Gr-grandson!" My great grandfather stuttered as I approached his wheelchair and opened his shaky arms for an embrace. I smiled and immediately slid into his hug. "Hi, Pa. How are you?" "I'm just fine. Oh! Is this what I believe?" He took my left hand into his trembling one and exaimned my gold wedding band. I smiled at it and nodded. He must not have heard of my marriage. "Yes, Pa, I'm married." "I can hear the pride in your young voice. Where's the beau at?" The way his elderly voice stuttered every time made my heart drop. I knew his ending was arriving soon. "She's somewhere with Mom." I glanced over my shoulder in time to see them turing the corner giggling quietly. Mom caught my gaze and shook her head to inform me; telling Alexis wasn't ready for my usual actions. But a small act at least would have to be put on for my pa. "Actually here she comes." I straightened from his arms and stepped back. Once Alexis was nearing I casually pulled her into me and hugged her, nuzzling my face into her neck. "Pretend for my grandfather at least. I beg of you, Alexis." Without a resonse she pulled my head back, icy hands cupping my face, and tip toed into a kiss. Thank God she's doing this. It was always my great grandpa's dream to see me happily married. "You, I remember you, Sweetie." Pa bursted. Alexis smiled and kept one of my arms around her. "Hi, Harley." "What's your name again? Anna? Amber? Ants..? A-Alexis!" She giggled softly and nodded in agreement. "Yes, Sir." "Thank you." I whispered in her ear, only placing a kiss on her cheek in everyone elses view. Pa and Alexis had a small conversation of life for abit and then we went to lunch while he stayed at the nurseying home for his noon treatment. It was really great to see him again..

"Bab- Alexis?" "Huh?" She turned her head in my direction, coming from deep in thought. We were standing in line for our lunch. "Just nevermind." "Justin.." She softly sighed and stepped forward making my hand fall from her lower back. "I'll tell you later I guess. Here isn't the time." After ordering our food and receiving it we headed towards the rest of the family and ended up parting separate ways. She sat alone with my mom while I seated with my dad and grandparents.
End of POV.

Alexis's POV.
"What?" I asked when noticing Pattie's strange gaze. She shook her head and looked away. "It's just.. you stay distant from him then you're halfway back to normal with him and it starts all over again." True. I can't help it though. "I'm trying not to hurt him by pushing him away but when I try the comfortable feeling overwhelms me. I want things like they were just a few days ago." "Let him in. Let him help you through those memories and eventually you'll get past it." "It's not that simply. It's easier for someone who didn't experince that to say it but it's so much harder for the victim to get over it." "I know, Sweetie. But you have to try for the sake of your marriage." "I know.."
