All these bodies are really shells,
I thought I knew them but they are just for sale.
A fake appearance in the gleam,
Of choir bells as they sing.
You think you know them you truly don't,
You see their faces you know you won't.
Their eyes consume what they think of you,
But your idol of them was never true.
You may see the mask but not what's inside,
Will that truly bother you since you never cried.
I see the gleam now in your eye,
As you realize what passed you by.
You can never go back and you never will,
As you sit at your window sill.
Lost in your past you can never hide,
You've done so well while your dreams passed you by.
This dream will never end
Until a new one can begin.
How do you know dream from day
When they all pass the same way.
A blur of faces pass you by,
You don't even have time to cry.
Surrounded by the people who you think you knew,
Not in a dream or scheme too.
Their shells pass you by,
With less than a blink of an eye.
Your lip quivers at the thought of fear,
You see them shiver as they draw near.
They can still hurt you while under the mask,
But not as much as your past.
You think of them till they think of you and all of a sudden,
They are hit with the truth only you once knew.
Their shells melt fade as their pride slips away,
As the face shone are truly gay.
I step from the darkness into the light,
I can see their face shine bright.
A welcoming commences as if they know,
The darkness that I will never show.
And you think you know them but you really don't,
When you see their faces you know you won't.
