Chapter 1
"It's so hot today!" Scylla exclaimed as her two best friends walked beside her down the road.
"Well, this is the normal weather in California, so I wouldn't complain," Joey replied pushing up his thick, black glasses. "Not even Freddie is saying anything today." Scylla turned her glare to find Freddie lying in the warm grass looking dead.
"Yep, the only reason for that is because he probably already died from heat exposure!" She moaned and walked over to Freddie. She stepped on him.
"Ugh, Scylla, why would you do that?!" Freddie asked bolting awake.
"Sorry Fred, but there's no time for sleeping. We have to hurry to my house or my mom will be worried." Joey said while helping Freddie up.
"I thought we were going to get ice cream first. It's so hot please let us go!"
"Okay, but we have to hurry... I'll call my mom," Freddie shuffled for his iPhone. Scylla was standing in the shade, while her two idiots were struggling under the sun. When Joey finally finished, they all hurried to Carl's Ice Cream Creamery.

"Hey Carl, we would like the usual please!" Freddie asked walking in the shop.
"Calm down, we're not the only ones here!" Scylla snapped back.
"Oh it's okay, Scylla, your specials are coming right up," Carl replied. Minutes later there was vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream scoops with sprinkles on the counter.
"Thanks Carl, I can't wait to eat it!" Freddie shouted as he snatched the strawberry scoop. Joey took vanilla and Scylla took chocolate.
"This is the life..." Scylla said licking the delicious, frozen treat. Freddie nodded.
"Um... guys, the party is over. We have to get to my house now." Joey broke the paradise. Scylla and Freddie sighed, paid for the ice cream, and then the trio ran out of the shop to hurry to Joey's house.
