"Love doesn't mean anything if you're not willing to make a commitment, and you have to think not only about what you want, but about what he wants. Not just now, but in the future."
~ Nicholas Sparks, Safe Haven
----
"Lovino!" (Name) called and flailed her arms. She bumped into a sharp edge, and screamed out in pain. "Lovino! Where are you!?" She reached her hands out and heard footsteps in the distance. Suddenly, her back was pressed against a warm chest. She felt muscular hands snake underneath her arms. Lovino's warm hand grabs her left hand and gently wrote on her palm with his finger.
'I - a-m - r-i-g-h-t - h-e-r-e.'
She let out a sigh and collapsed in Lovino's arms. (Name) always gets panic attacks when Lovino isn't holding her hand. Why would Lovino be around a girl who can't even see? Why would she need him out of all people? Lovino and (Name) are at all different. They both have a fault in them, and that's what makes the both of them so similar to each other. They understand each other's problems.
Lovino knows he has to look out after (Name). Lovino loves her. He loves her very much. (Name) knows he loves her. She loves him very much too.
Even if she can't see, (Name) knows it's a beautiful world outside this town. Lovino would spend hours all night telling her about how the world looks like, through touch communication. She'd lay back on Lovino's chest and rest her head underneath his chin while he'd take her left hand in his left hand, and gently write all capital letters on her palm with his right.
Sometimes Lovino would give earphones to (Name) and they'd both listen to music that speaks their feelings to each other. Lovino would show (Name) songs about trashy love affairs and she'd laugh about it, or (Name) would show Lovino songs about soft and soothing love story songs that they'd always listen to.
Ever so often, Lovino would take (Name) to the beach to describe the color of the waves hitting the brown rocks or how the sun looks extremely beautiful when it's setting. When they're out in public, it's a more dangerous environment because Lovino cannot let go of (Name)'s hand. If an action requires both of his hands, he'd tell (Name) to hug him from the front and to never let go unless he takes her hand again.
People would say Lovino is such a protective boyfriend. But really, he just really loves and cares for her. She means the world to him, and losing (Name) would mean all hell breaks loose and he'd tear apart. Once Feliciano passed away, he felt like he had no hope anymore. (Name) is the only person in the world that will restore all faith inside him.
For (Name), she'd be lost without Lovino. He's her guide to everything. She loves him more than anything. She would touch his face and body just to try and see what he'd look like. Lovino would tell her how beautiful her eyes were when she took off her glasses. She loves it when he compliments her, and he'd tell her how they sparkle under the moonlight.
'Y-o-u-r - e-y-e-s - l-o-o-k - b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l.'
(Name) smiled delightfully. It must have been a very difficult way of meeting Lovino. They met when Lovino turned nineteen and ended up having a job being a part-time nurse assistant for (Name's) mother. She would come in all the time with (Name) and let her stay in her office. Lovino immediately spotted her and thought she was beautiful. He soon found out that she was blind, and there was no possible way he could have any relationship with her, for he is mute.
(Name's) mother told Lovino there was only one type of communication for him, and that would be through touch. Lovino didn't have the knowledge to learn sign language and (Name) hasn't heard of sign language of all her sixteen years of life without a clear sight.
Lovino soon began to teach her, with the help of (Name's) mother. Once she learned sign language and touch communication, Lovino and (Name) began to talk often. They would listen to music together and show one another's music taste.
Lovino grabs her hand and makes tiny circles on her palm, tickling her nerves. Her hands are small and delicate, for which Lovino needs to grasp them gently. He leads her hands to his chest, moving her left hand behind his neck and her right hand on his heart. She rests her head right under his collar bone and breathes in softly. She relaxes when she inhales his natural scent.
She exhales quietly. "It's been twenty-three months,"
'A-l-m-o-s-t - t-w-o - y-e-a-r-s,'
"-Since we've been together." (Name) finishes the sentence.
That same night, Lovino took (Name) to the beach again. The sun had already set and most of the people are gone off the beach. It was just them two. Lovino took (Name)'s hand told her that it was dark outside and everyone is gone.
'I - a-l-w-a-y-s - l-o-v-e-d - b-e-a-c-h-e-s.'
Even throughout everything they've done for each other, all the complications and faults in their relationship, at the end, they're the ones who keep it strong.
"Lovino...I feel safe in your arms." She presses her face against Lovino's firm chest. She embraces the hug and touches his face. She drags her ridged fingernails across his cheeks until she finds his left ear. "I love you." She whispers. He wraps his arms around her and grabs her left hand and writes the following:
'I - l-o-v-e - y-o-u - t-o-o.'
And with that, they both lock lips knowing that they'd continuously love each other from now on like they do now.
