Broken

Words

People talk, but they don't know what it feels like. They don't know what it's like to be me. They don't know what it's like to be broken. They don't know what it's like to live this life. They have all they could ever wish for: popularity, girlfriends, boyfriends, talent, happiness. Oh, happiness. Something I don't believe in anymore. They say I'm weak, but I know I'm not. If I was I certainly wouldn't be here right now. They don't know I've been bullied all my life. They haven't been told what I have. They haven't been treated like I have. They haven't heard the words I've heard. And how words hurt. How the most insignificant of words can break you into a million pieces. That's what happened to me, but they didn't know. Maybe they should, but they couldn't. They say I make too many mistakes, maybe I do. But they don't know my mistakes are just me trying to stand up to them without knowing how. They say I brag a lot and they say I'm proud, but they don't know that it's all just a mask, a character I created to protect myself. They don't know I'm a selfless person. They don't know any of that, but I do. I know I can't show them how selfless I am, I can't show them they hurt me. And the reason is simple. A man goes hunting and sees two rabbits. One of them is fast and will easily run away, but the other has a broken leg and can't move. Which rabbit do you think he'll shoot? He'll shoot the rabbit with a broken leg because he's an easy target, one that he cannot fail. The same happens with me. If I show them I'm broken they'll choose me. They won't choose the other guy who doesn't care about a word they say. No, they'll choose me, because I will listen and hurt. They'll choose me because they know it'll make me sad. They'll choose me because they know I can't run away. They'll choose me because I'm broken.
