Kayla's p.o.v:"Mmm mom, that was delicious." I smiled as I put my fork back down onto my empty plate.
My mom smiled back at me, then her gaze diverted to Austin. "So Austin, tell me a bit about yourself." She said with a curious tone.
"Well m'am I'm originally from Texas, my full name is Austin Carter Mahone..."
She cut him off mid sentence. "Plans for the future?"
"To go to university in Houston." He replied without hesitation. "
Any family?" My mom smiled.
Austin's face immediately dropped. "Um, my parents died a few years back and I'm a only child..." He trailed off.
"Oh im sorry to hear that dear..." She murmured. Austin gave her a wry smile. "I know." He whispered.
"Anyways Austin, you seem like a lovely young man, and I think Kayla will be safe with you." My mom announced
"Are you saying I can move in with Austin?!" I squealed. My mother smiled in reply.
I jumped up from the dinner table, running over to her side, and embracing her in a tight hug. "On one condition." Her voice rang out, and her face turned deadly serious.
My happiness turned into fear.
"Aslong as both of you promise to visit me all the time." She said, the corners of her mouth tugging up into another smile.
*That night*
Me and Austin lay on his bed, with his arm around me and my head resting on his chest. "Austin, can I ask you something?" I whispered cautiously.
"Anything, princess." He replied, placing a kiss on the top of my head.
I thought about my next words carefully. "How were you turned?"
His body turned completely stiff and his eyes glazed over.
Austin's p.o.v:"How were you turned" Them 4 words made me freeze from head to toe.
I sighed.
"I knew you would ask eventually and I feel you deserve a answer." I got up and paced around the room.
"Well here it goes..."
"It was 1858, in Texas and I was 17 years old, I walked through the orchard to meet my fiancé, Rosemarie. She was breathtakingly beautiful.
Pale skin, blond hair that went just past her shoulder, and bright blue eyes.
Back in them days arranged marriage was all the rage, and she was my arranged to be wife. Although she was beautiful, I didn't love her.
I was 17 I had my whole life ahead of me..." I trailed off, pausing.
"One day I went to meet her, she was waiting for me by our favourite oak tree but she wasn't her usual happy self, her eyes were a dark mysterious red colour and she was paler than usual.
When I noticed something was wrong, I got scared and started to make a run for it towards the forest. But she was to fast, she soon caught up to me and pinned me up against a tree, these fangs emerged from her mouth and at that moment I knew what she was.
I tried to fight her off but she was too strong.
She placed her face inbetween the nape of my neck and suddenly a sharp pain ran through my neck and surged down my body.
I dropped to the floor, unable to speak or move, and she left me, alone in the forest to die..."
I looked up at Kayla's face, trying to read her expression.
Her face was blank and she said nothing, suddenly she threw herself off the bed and ran towards me, pulling me into a tight hug, a hug that I wanted to last forever.
