Today is the first day back from the school holiday break. Rushing out of bed I quickly had my morning shower, brushed my teeth and ran back to my room. I looked at the time on my nightstand and realised I still had 20 minutes to leave. I didn't slow my pace down because I know myself enough to say that if I take advantage of time, I'll be at the earliest, 30 minutes late. I made my way towards my wardrobe and picked out my summer uniform and school shoes. I put them on in a reasonable amount of time before pinning up my hair in my usual twisted crown braid. I made my way downstairs only to see my sister already at the breakfast table.
"Hey Gen" she chirped as I made my my way towards the kitchen to grab something to eat.
"Hey lexi, you excited to go into year eight today?" I asked her as I took the seat across from her.
"Not really, I heard Mrs. Leroy is our coordinator this year. I thought my days with the devils accomplice were over but I guess the school thought otherwise." She said a little too dramatically. I chuckled at this. This is why loved my sister. She's just so full of sarcasm.
"Oh god lexi, stop with exaggerating and hurry up. We're gonna miss our bus if we don't." I say already half way up the stairs.
In less than five minutes we where out of the house and walking to our nearest bus stop. I usually put my headphones on as well as Lexi but today we just chatted. Meaningless things mostly. My sister and I were pretty close. We didn't usually fight like other siblings. Mums mostly at the hospital taking morning and night shifts and dads always at his office or at court. We rarely see them but when we do, they always do something that'll make up for their absence. And not something like a night out, something like a month out of the country which is just amazing. It's always been a dream of mine to travel the world. So far we've visited every country in Europe and are now trying to do the same for Africa. My parents are amazing people and even if their not always present in our day to day lives, they're still great parents.*~*
We just finished period two and we're all going to our now newly assigned lockers for the year. The hallways are buzzing will people talking about their holidays to one another and let me tell you, I'm no different. Blabbering to my friends Jaime and Laura about my holiday in Paris and the United Kingdom as well as Jamaica. This year we where lucky enough to get lockers together so we didn't have to worry about looking for each other after class due to us not taking the same classes. We talked all the way to our lockers. Mostly about guys.I opened my locker and just as I was putting my books out I began to to have pain around my stomach area.I placed my books in my locker the pain still sharp in my stomach. I locked my locker as fast as I could and left the girls to go to the bathroom. They insisted to go with me but I firmly refused. I told them that I probably had my period so they let me go. This wasn't the first time though. It happened four or three times last week and a couple of times in the last few months. I didn't really think much of it in the first couple of months but I feel like something is wrong. I told mum about these extreme headaches I've been getting and she said to rest a little more and that they'll be gone. When it didn't, she bought me some migraine relieving tablets. They work sometimes but I wouldn't say enough.
When I reached the bathrooms, It was thankfully empty so I didn't have to go into a stall. I splashed water on my face, took two deep breathes, 2 aspirins and began making my way to the hallways.
I went back to my locker and realised that the hallways were basically empty. This meant that I was late to class. On my first day.
"So much for making a good impression on my teachers" I mumbled to myself whilst opening my locker.
I grabbed my next classes books and began walking at a fast pace. I knocked before entering and stepped inside and noticed that the class was in groups. "This is good" I said to myself.
I don't have to walk into a unbearable silence then get questioned by the teacher. I spotted Laura and rushed to an empty seat next to her. She was in a deep conversation with Megan, a girl in our health class, so she didn't notice me until I tapped her shoulder. She turned around ready to tell me off until she noticed it was me.
"You didn't take long at all ?" She sarcastically told me.
"Sorry, I just neede-" I didn't get to finish my sentence before the pain began again. This one was different though. The pain was sharper than before and I could pinpoint exactly where it was.
