"Why?" Lisa said almost crying "why do we have to move! I want to stay here?" Even though her Mother had explained it so many times she still didn't understand "we told you 5 times already!" Sighed her mum Lydia " your Dad wants us to move into the city. He has a big house with a pool and it's close to a nice school." Sobbed her mother. " I know it's hard for you and I know you love it out her with the horses but...but it's for the best!" Said her mother who didn't seem convinced herself that it would be good for them. " Go say goodbye to the horses, we leave tomorrow." Lisa knew that look. It was the look her mother gave her when she need to clear her mind. If Lisa was being truthful it looked looked like she'd sucked on a lemon but was trying not to show she hated the taste.

As she walked out the grand oak doorway and onto the porch she saw her horse Red in his paddock tossing his head around like a lunatic. When he saw her he let out a shrill whinny and raced over to the fence. She walked out to meet him and leant against the white picket fence and slid down it sobbing as she did so. Red looked at her puzzled, he hated seeing her like this. She got up with red rimmed eyes and opened the gate to his corral. She started brushing his fetlock with her fingers and braiding his mane like she always did when she was sad. " How can I say goodbye?" She asked herself as she walked over to the saddle and bridal on the fence, she hauled them over to him and hurriedly put on the blankets on his elegant back. Red stamped his foot in protest as Lisa tightened her girth and shoved the bridal on his delicate face She rubbed his star in apology. " We're leaving just the two of us." She whispered lovingly into his tear soaked chestnut mane.
