I bit my lip and sighed deeply. Why was I so worked up? It's not like he's cheating on me... Really...
"Rae! Please!" Jesse protested as I flung the phone down and tried to budge past him. He grabbed my wrists and held me in place. I couldn't even look at him in the eyes. Yet I felt his burning into me.
"You.... You had a girlfriend?" Jesse sighed and released one of my wrists to run a hand through his wild bedhead of hair.
"Well, yeah.. But..." He began blabbering, but I cut him off, shouting over his protests. I wanted the truth. And it was going to hurt.
"How long since Jesse?" I turned my face to the side and silenced the hyperventilating that had began within my chest.
"A while-"
"How long!" I slammed my fists into his chest. He was my bestfriend... But... Was that all?
"A... A month or so.. But Rae-" I had heard enough, I grabbed my clothes and barged past him.
"No, Jesse." I slammed the bathroom door, and sunk down the back, until I was curled on the floor. "You're cheating on her!" I felt the sobs tear into that cry. I tried to get ready, but gave up and remained in my sleeping clothes.
"Well... I guess... But you... My bestfriend..."
"But nothing Jesse!" I rested my head on my knees. "I know..." I started and heard him press against the door. "I know... I would die... If I heard... You'd cheated... On me..." I finally managed to get out. But it wasn't the same... I wasn't his. She was.
"Rae..." I heard him whisper from the other side of the wood.
"Who...?" I whimpered, as I pressed my cheek against the door, imagining him there.
"Huh?" He replied, not listening.
"Who... Who is it?" I heard Jesse sigh.
"She's from another school. You have to understand we're not close... She's clingy. I'm not. I... I don't like her..." I felt a little lighter at this... But that was wrong. I scrunched up my eyes.
"That's what they all say Jesse..." I forgot to press my weight against the door, and the wood creaked loudly with the change of pressure, Jesse immediately took the opportunity and twisted the door handle, knocking me back, as he forced his way into the room.
"Rae..." He stood staring at me, and I felt those beautiful eyes lock me. I sniffled and attempted to wipe away the warm fresh tears on my cheeks. "Never... Ever cry over me." The dirty blonde crouched before me, one of his ghostly pale hands cupping my face gently. His thumb stroking the tear that tipped over the edge of my cheek. "I'm sorry." His pale face came closer and my breaths began to hiccup. "I'm a real dick." He murmured against my lips.
"I didn't want to get in a relationship with you... Because I knew I would hurt you."
