The plan (a Shizaya story)

Chapter 12

The picture didn't help. Kai already thought that Izaya was lying about not being the one to kill the gang leaders but this seemed to confirm it.
One day Kai came to Izaya and simply told him that he forgave him, that he knew that it was just how Izaya was and that he should've seen that that kind of thing would happen. All Izaya wanted to do was tell Kai that it wasn't him, that it was his sister who did it, that it was her who blamed him.
That night Izaya did something he hadn't done in a long time, hadn't let himself do.
Izaya cried.
Of course, Kanra mocked him for it the next day. Of course Kanra didn't care that her own brother was depressed. He just ignored her, pretended to go about his day like normal and tried to find a way to make it up to Kai.
A month later and the wound between Kai and Izaya seemed to have healed. A month later and they seemed to be together again, to be happy again. Kai accepted Izaya for who he thought he was and Izaya was constantly trying to make up for a mistake he never made.
It was a good time in Izaya's life, even if he did still go through a beating a day, but he truly didn't remember a time before the daily beatings so it didn't bother him too much, even if it should have.
A year later, sixteen year old Izaya decides to tell Kai about his older sister, about what he has to go through.
t first Kai was shocked, Izaya had told him something he felt insecure about, then he was angry, at Kanra for doing this to someone.
"If you ever need anyone to talk to, anyone to listen to you, I'll always be there." Kai said as he hugged Izaya, who was shocked, he honestly expected Kai to be disgusted. He was happy, someone accepted him for who he was, not just who he pretended to be.
And for the first time since that night when Kai thought he had killed those gang leaders, Izaya cried.
"So it truly wasn't you who killed those gang bosses, was it." Kai said, relived that his boyfriend was not a murderer.
For once everything was peaceful.

And then Kanra thought that Izaya deserved a little more pain.
