As I pulled up into the driveway of the small yellow house I couldn't shake the weird feeling I've been having all day long, I feel like something horrible is gonna happen.
After clearing my mind I pushed open the car door and made my way up to the porch of the house, there were pots full of tulips and lilies everywhere just like I remember.
I rang the doorbell and waited a little for an answer but there was none, I reached to ring the doorbell again but before I could answer the door swung open to the beautiful face I've always adored since I was a child.
"Chasity darling, I've missed you!" She yelled with a bright smile.
"I've missed you too mother" I said embracing her in a hug.
"Please come in"
As I walked into the house I couldn't help but notice that everything was the same way it was when I moved out nine years ago.
"This is such a surprise, I haven't seen you in forever darling. Please make yourself comfortable, I'll be back in one sec" She said as she walked into the kitchen.
I took off my jacket and shoes and found my way into the living room, even the furniture was the same. Taking a seat on the couch I grabbed the remote on the little cat shaped coffee table my mom has had since I could remember.
Turning on the TV I flipped through the dozens of channels trying to find my favorite station.
Finally I came to BET, 106&Park was on and they were playing my favorite song by Ciara.
As I bobbed my head to the music my mother came walking out of the kitchen with two glasses of her homemade lemonade.
"Here you go hun, just the way you like it" She said handing me the glass.
I took a sip of the fresh lemonade from the blue bendy straw hanging out of the glass.
"Thanks mom, its delicious as usual"
"No problem, anything for you darling"
There was a silent pause between us as you hear the music playing from the TV.
"So what brings you here hun?"
"Well I'm doing an investigation over in Wellington so I decided to stop by and see you"
"I'm so glad you did, its been really boring around here since your father died and you left"
"I know, I'm sorry I don't come and see you more often. I wish I could but I've been very busy with work and taking care of Kennedy"
"Oh how is Kennedy?"
"She's great, she just started first grade" I said smiling at the thought of my daughter.
"Wow hunny thats great, I'm so proud of you"
"Thanks mom"
I started to talk but my moms favorite song came on and she couldn't help but get up and start dancing.
"Oooooh this is my song"
"I know mama" I said laughing at her dancing.
"Away from me to see clearly the way that love can be when you are not with me I had to leave, I had to live, I had to lead, I had to live" She sang while dancing around the living room.
"If I cant have you let love set you free to fly your pretty wings around, pretty wings, your pretty wings your pretty wings" I continued to sing along with her.
We started to continue the next verse but the music stopped.
"What the hell, what happened to the music?" She asked looking irritated.
