>> I usually don't write up here, but I thought that I should! I noticed that people like to set songs for their stories. I think that's quite a good idea! So why not? Music really just sets the moods for stories and movies, doesn't it? So why not have a few songs for my book? In this chapter, the song is "Leaves On Water" by Brian Crain. His music is amazing. You should listen to the song while you read and hopefully some of you will cry. ;) JK. I just meant I hope it makes my story sadder than intended to. Well anyways, allow me to shut my trap and I'll let you guys start reading! I'll see you at the end.~ <<

It had nearly been a year since William Lonoway had succumbed to the deadly disease of sickle cell. Where he had laid down in the hospital was his death bed. His mother and father, Mary and Gary Lonoway, were very heartbroken, but his little sister, Alana Lonoway, had taken it much harder. Alana looked up to William. He was her role model. In times when Alana didn't believe in herself, William did. He pushed her over limits to help her achieve goals. Now, there was no one to encourage her the way he did.
Though she had been to his funeral and visited his grave many times, she believed that his spirit still lingered, for she didn't want to believe that he was all the way gone.
"What do you want me to do, then?" asked Alana to the emptiness of her room.
Just wait and see , said the voice in her head.
Alana sighed and got up for her bed, shifting a wisp of her curly brown locks away from her pale face. "Mom?" she called out into the vast house as she left her room.
"Yes, love?" came the reply of a sick woman. Mary Lonoway was dying of cancer and was told that she had 6 months left, but she incessantly reassured Alana that she'd live longer. She does not want her daughter to go through another family death.
"Do you believe in ghosts?"
Mary looked up from some paperwork that was stacked in a pile like a mountain. "Hm? Why ask a question so bizzare?"
"Nevermind..."
Mary shook her head and returned her attention to her paperwork mountain.
Just as Alana was about to turn back to her room, the front door swung open and Gary Lonoway entered with a loud, "GOOOOOD EVENING EVERYBODY!!"
Alana ran up to him and engulfed him in a huge bear hug.
"Hey, there, Squirt!" he greeted her. His uniform smelled of nature's stench. He was most likely chasing down criminals or handing out tickets like invitations to the Miami Police Station.
"Any news?" asked Mary.
"Mhm! Remember that old widow who was beaten to the point where she had brain damage?" Gary took off his dark sunglasses and walked over to his busy wife.
"Didn't she die yesterday?" Mary once again looked up from her paperwork mountain.
"Yes, she did. But get this. After she was pronounced dead, the doctor didn't want to give up. Gave her one more shock and she came back to life."
"Isn't that so! Lucky she was to have a hopeful doctor. You can't find many of those, nowadays."
Alana rushed into her room. She absolutely HATED hearing about life and death. It reminded her too much of..
That conversation makes you think.., echoed the unknown voice.
Alana didn't want to think about it, but she forced herself to. The doctor had brought the widow back to life. It all made sense now.
I believe in you, Alana. I always have.
"But doesn't Dr.Nevue work in Pensacola?"
I believe in you, Alana. I always have.
"No! I can't do that!"
I believe in you, Alana. I always have.
The phrase continued to repeat itself like a broken record. Though, to Alana, it wasn't just a phrase. It was her brother encouraging her, telling her she could do it, and she believed him.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
>> Little author's message! Oh, Alana. I feel your pain. Well, guys! You liking it so far? Is it sad? Is it good? Boring? Feeling anything at all? Feel free to comment! Opinions are heavily needed. I feel my stories are boring or just not good enough. Feedback, anyone? Could use some help. Funny how I have like 5 books now and I'm still confused. Welp. At least I don't get hit with Writer's Block! My ideas are just endless.~ Also, sorry that the chapter's short. I'll try making the next one longer. <<
