I lay still on my hospital bed, glancing up at the blank ceiling. It was just yesterday that I had broken my left arm in three sections. I remember it clearly; jumping up to make a header, and getting tackled by the opposing team. I shook my head to delete the painful thought out of my mind.

I was jaded, or bored. There was nothing to do. The television did not have anything interesting on, and I couldn’t play video games because of my injury, so I decided to look at my surroundings. “Maybe this will kill my boredom.” I convinced myself with a smirk. There was a diverse amount of flowers in the room, such as roses, Madonna Tulips, and pansies. Teddy bears of all shapes, sizes, and colors were everywhere. Get well cards were spread throughout my table and my windowsill.

I inhaled the air. The aroma was so divine like sweet spice and everything nice. It smelled like strawberries and vanilla; which are my favorite scents. It smelled like home. I grabbed the half eaten sandwich that was on my food tray, and finished it off with an apple. The unbearable, knife-stabbing pain of my broken arm had already returned, so I took the two pain pills the doctor requested me to take.

Lying still on my back, I relaxed all my muscles, and heard the many sounds around me. There was a big commotion in the outside world. The trees were rustling, phones ringing, citizens’ conversing, and birds chirping. However, something, out of all those sounds, stood out and grabbed my attention. It was my heart monitor. My heart beat was so steady, so tranquil. It had a rhythm and beat of its own. It sounded identical to a drum, “dun-dun, dun-dun”.

I closed my eyes and focused on the steady heartbeats. I noticed that my inhales and exhales, matched exactly with the monitor. I slowly became tired, and everything around me became a blur.

I woke up at an unknown place. “Where am I?” I asked myself. The room was pitch black, large, squishy, red, and it smelled like-blood. Out of the blue, lights were turning on. Although, I was terrified that I might have woken up some place dangerous, I was delighted on the fact that I was no longer in the dark.

A woman, that looked just like me, but older, with short brown hair, light skin, and dark eyes started walking towards me. Her smile was warm and comforting. She was wearing blue, ripped skinny jeans, a leather jacket, a tucked-in floral blouse, and boots with studs. She was beautiful!

“Hello, sweetie, how are you?” Her tone was sweet, positive, calm, experienced, and full of sympathy. She continued, “I will be your tour guide for today.” She stared deep into my eyes. I noticed hers were shining really bright.

I replied with a questioning look, “Good?” I continued, “Are you…ME?”

She smiled and answered, “Yes, beautiful. Now, let’s just continue and take you to why you came here.” I had no idea what had brought me here, but I wasn’t going to leave without an explanation. I was being walked by the older me into a deep hallway.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked curious.

She smiled, “We are going to your treasure chest.”

“Treasure chest?” I responded, dumbfounded by the reply that I got. Once again, she smiled. A thousand and one questions passed through my mind.

“Yes, now can you stop being such a questioning girl, and continue walking.” The older Ana demanded. I giggled. The farther we got, the smaller the hallway became.

By the time we approached our destination, the sound of the object became stronger. I walked closer and closer and noticed that the object was rising and decreasing. I then noticed that I had finally reached my heart.
