Madeline's p.o.v
After my brother pours out the story of my bullies and the real reason for the big purple mark on my arm, he leaves, leaving mom and I in an awkward silence. Suddenly, mom grabs my shoulders. I look up into her baby blue eyes, which are filling with tears. "Maddie," she says softly. "Why didn't you tell me?" I shrug, unable to swallow the lump in my throat. "Maddie listen." Oh no, lecture time. "The reason I tell you the things I do, the things that happened in my childhood and the struggles that I faced, is not to encourage you to hold back on telling me things. I did. There's alot of things I didn't tell my mom, so she couldn't help me, and I ended up permanently damaged because of it. The last thing I want is for that to happen to you." I sniff, tears forcing their way out of my eyes. "Oh Maddie, come here." My mom hugs me tightly,  and I cry into her shoulder. Maybe I'm not as strong as I thought.
After that whole emotional deal, mom asks me if I want her to do anything about the kids at school. "No. Not yet. I want to see if I can handle it myself first." Mom shakes her head.
"No, see I told my mom that to. Tomorrow I'm driving you to school and talking to the principal. What are the names of these kids?"
I sigh, then say, "Marco Slicosto, Kade Mastaphane, Adrian Elestron, Aidan Delphmore and Michael Aeresbone." My mom grimaces.
"All those kids are hurting you?" I nod and point at the large bruise on my arm.
"This was the work of Kade," I say. Mom nods and cracks her knuckles.
"And you have no friends that help you?" I shake my head.
"No. Nobody wants to talk to me. They say I'm to different." My mother shakes her head.
"We're going to fix this Maddie." She kisses my forehead. "I promise." With that, she gets up and leaves the room.
