Bianca hasn't been out of her house much in the last eight months. Of course, she has been out to the doctor's and gather the mail once a week from the box. Today her best friend Cruz has begged her to go out with him. He's getting married soon and won't be able to hang out with her much.

She tried to explain that she doesn't go out, but he simply would not take "no" for an answer. Since he has been a great friend, she felt obligated to accept his invitation.

The loud knock at the door takes her out of her reverie. Cruz was at the door. Looking at the clock to see he was right on time, it's two o'clock. Opening the door she tried to smile, but the nerves were eating her up inside.

"Smile baby you are going out with me and we're going to have fun. I know what you went through, at least in parts."

The sadness that overcame his eyes told her that he wasn't lying. She didn't want him to feel sorry for her and her doctor said she needed to confront her fears.

"I'm as happy as I can get right now. Are we ready to go?" She asked with a bored look.

Cruz chuckled and gestured with his arm for her to pass him. He followed her to his car still chuckling slightly.

He was told in part what happened to her and he needed to treat her with kid gloves.

"Do you still like pool?" He asked, climbing into the car next to her.

"Yeah, I guess it's okay. It's been a long time since I played."

Bianca got quiet and watched out the window during the rest of the ride. The pool hall is just ten minutes from her house, which was good since neither spoke.

Cruz tried to quickly walk around the car to open the door for her, but she was closing the door when he got to the other side of the car.

"Do you want a beer?" He asked, opening the double glass doors.

Bianca nodded her head yes and walked into the pool hall to hear loud talking and clicking of the pool balls.

She followed Cruz to the counter where he could order their drinks. Cruz made sure he exchanged dollar bills for change. Each game cost a quarter, which wasn't too bad. Most people playing had bets going on around the table.

"Here you go, Tinker." He winked at her.

Bianca was looking around at the other's. Her heart feels like it going to beat out of her chest. She snapped her eyes to his and snatched the beer from his hand and turned her back on him. He knows that nickname is annoying; she's into girl shit now.

She took a sip from the beer and followed Cruz to an empty table. Setting the bottle to the side, she racked the ball's.

Grabbing the pool stick and rubbing chalk on the end, she bent over and hit a solid ball into a side pocket.

From the corner of her eyes she noticed Cruz standing back with a smirk on his face. That better not mean he thinks men are better.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked, ready to strike another ball.

With a chuckle Cruz said, " you look so cute when you think you're going to win."

Bianca would show him who would win. She stuck her tongue out at him and quickly looked ashamed of having some fun. She carefully started gauging her emotions after that.

Maybe she wasn't ready for the big news in his life. If she wasn't ready, she work and hate his plan that includes her. God, Cruz hoped he had the nerve to actually tell her the big news.
