My name is Katarina Calotte and I am Amity. Our faction represents peace and kindness, blaming violence for the cause of war. The Erudite blame ignorance, the Candor blame lies, the Abnegation blame selfishness but the DAUNTLESS blame people for not being brave enough to stand up and fight for what is right. They believe in not living comfortable lives, standing up for others that don't have a say. They are the faction that protects us from harm and... what is on the outside.

I have always being reckless. I have a tendency to speak my mind, sometimes hurting people's feelings because of my opinion. I escape the Amity compound from time to time, finding myself in trouble and given a huge dose of Peace Serum. But I don't regret a thing. Because it led me to my Test Result : Dauntless. My parents knew for a fact that I wasn't peaceful enough to stay here so, by the time I was 13, following my wishes, they helped me train to be Dauntless. My dad was Dauntless born and my mother was an Abnegation. They both transfered to Amity, falling in love during initiation. And that's why they were so encouraging and supportive of me leaving, they did the same thing.

THE CHOOSING CEREMONY

I woke up from my slumber. Ah, this is soooo relaxing. But it is going to end today. I stood up, trying my best to not shake from nervousness. Although I have a clear decision, I feel a pang of guilt leaving my parents behind. They have always been the best and comforting parents ever. And now I have to leave them. Sometimes, I doubt my choice. I could stay in Amity, not feeling that happy but at the same time, surrounded by my parents' love. I would marry a tame Amity, dance around in circles all day and in the end have tame and kind kids. But that's NOT what I want. I was shaken out of my thoughts when I heard the voice of my loving mother. I quickly change, deciding what I was gonna the last day as an Amity. I skipped downstairs, feeling every second as if my heart was going to explode. Mom greeted me with a reassuring smile while Dad was looking at me adoringly, tears welling up in his eyes. He said quietly, " That's my little Dauntless." I sobbed, seeing this as the last time I will see them until Visiting Day. They stopped what they were doing and hugged me tightly. Mom whispered in my ear," Remember all that we taught you, okay? We will always love you." I couldn't ask for more. This is my family and it will always be my family until the very end. We ate breakfast in quiet, enjoyng each other's company for the last time.

The other kids on the bus jumped up and down, knowing downright that they were gonna choose Amity. I sat alone, not feeling the need to socialize in this moment. It's not that I don't have any friends, it is just that I spend all my time with my parents. The bus slammed to a stop, arriving at its final destination. The Hub. We filed in the building, chitter chatter filling my ears. We sat inside the auditorium, listening to Jeanine Matthews' speech. She is a very powerful woman, being the Erudite representative. Although I have seen her do nothing wrong, the glint in her eyes tell me differently. The speech ended much too quickly, seeing as they're already calling names. The first transfer is an Erudite to Abnegation. It filled the room with gossip, Erudites have been taught to ignore and hate the Abnegation. Jeanine looks as if she is going to burst into flames. She gains her poise, calling the next names. Then out of the blue, my name is called.

I walk up slowly, taking a last glance at my parents. I slid my hands, shoving them to the sizzling coals. The whole auditorium broke into surprise. An Amity hasn't transfered to Dauntless in decades. My new faction cheers as Amity looked green. I ran to my fellow Dauntless, earning many pats on the back. In just mere minutes, the Ceremony ends. I run with the Dauntless, feeling free for the first time. I jumped on the train with ease, after all I have trained. Some Dauntless Borns look at me with awe and surprise. A Dauntless girl looks at me, scooching closer. She says," Hey there Amity, impressive jump! My name's Zendaya but you call me Zen, what's yours?" I smiled slightly,"My name is Katarina and...thanks?" She chuckled and the other Dauntless Borns introduce themselves. I looked out of the train, realizing we are near the Dauntless Headquarters. Zen jumps out, landing on the knees. I twirl in the air, landing perfectly on the platform. The transfers look at me in awe (again), then slowly turning their attention to the guy on the ledge. He is definitely Dauntless, with tattoos and piercings everywhere. His swept up blond hair and his blue grey eyes make him look attractive. I am taken out of my day dreaming with him saying," I am Eric, Dauntless Leader. We are looking for the best of the best here in Dauntless so... Who's gonna be the first one to jump off the ledge?" Many people are caught off guard, shaking like crazy. I AM going to do this. His eyes scanned through the crowd, lingering on me as I walk up to the ledge. He smirks," Wow. Out of all of them, a softie comes to Dauntless...and is first jumper. You all should be ashamed of yourself." He walks towards me. Somehow, my heart beats faster, almost exploding. He snatches my arm and says," Don't be a showoff, will you? You won't last long any way." What? One moment, he was praising me for being first jumper and now he's insulting me?! I looked at him and smirk, falling backwards into the unknown.
