Great great great great great great great great great grandparents. That's why I'm here. That's why at this very moment I'm lying on the ground.
"Get up! We have no time for lazy servants!" Says the person who just slapped me to the ground.
"Yes Miss. Cassarina." She's not really a "Miss" but she prefers it, because she wants to sound younger, and probably because she doesn't want to be reminded of her 4 previous husbands. I shall humour since I really don't want to be on her bad side today. She is the mistress of the girl servants, she is cruel, mean, and has anger issues. So by that I'm sure you can tell she is super fun to work with...... Today is the Queen's birthday and everybody is stressed, even more so then usual.
"Well get up then!!!" I get up, despite the aching of my bones. This is the 3 time she has smacked me today, and that's just today. I delicately wobble up and face her.
"Get to work! Her majesty will be arriving soon and I don't want any servants walking about!" I go about my work more quickly after that. Her majesty isn't some random unimportant royal that no one cares about. We are talking about THE QUEEN. We are talking about the Queen of the world. There was a king once, but no one remembers him. A long, long, long, long time ago a man got control of the whole world. How, you my ask? By doing dreadful things. This man was an inventor for starters, and he did what inventors do. He invented. You probably want more information, but I can't give you any! No one knows where he came from or who he was, he kind of just appeared. His name? Cornelius. Cornelius Peppercorn. What made him so terrible? He invented The Taker.
The name pretty much explains it, but I'll clarify. He used The Taker to scan people, with one of those big scary red beams of light, after about 5 seconds the scan was complete. Once the scan was complete The Taker would shoot out a piece of paper that told Cornelius what you loved the most. And then he would have the Destroyers take it from you and destroy it. Mothers were taken from daughters, men from there wives, pets from there owners, and friends from friends. His goal was to take over the world so he could scan his mortal enemy, Booker Tomson, and destroy the thing he loved the most. And he did. After all the terror and horrifying agony Booker finally decided it would be best to turn himself in rather then see more people suffer. So he was scanned. And thing he loved the most was......... we don't know. No one does. As soon as Cornelius learned it he disposed of it I guess, but no one really knows. That's why we make sure that what we do know is drilled into our brains. We learn the story of Cornelius and The Taker everyday in school, the same thing, every day. Because nothing else matters. Not any more. Cornelius had one son, Edward. And Edward takes after his father, once he was king he made life even harder for everyone. He grabbed the prettiest girl in his sight and made her his wife. He gave people the option to work in the palace, they would be paid well, and treated respectfully, plus free meals and board. It was too good to be true. But they fell for it. And by they I mean the 10,027 people who went and signed the contract saying that they would work for the King there entire lives. What they didn't know was the contract also binds all of there descendants as well. That's why I'm here. Working at the palace is about the worst job to have. No one would ever want to have it. That's why Edward made the law probably, because the Peppercorns are smart. So here we are 1000 years later, with the descents of the original dumb people who signed the contract. Everyone in the world is ruled by the Queen. Where is the King? He died about 50 years ago, of some mysterious illness. Or at least that's what the Queen told us. But everyone knows that's not true, she just killed him off so she can rule. That is why it's my great great great great great great great great grandparents fault that I am here.
