Once upon a time, there lived a boy called Jordan, a mum called Annie and a dad called Pete. They all lived in a house in Dublin. One day a very bad storm came in from the sky. Annie heard the storm outside and she gasped. ''Oh dear i think there's a storm outside,'' said Annie. Just then an extremely loud sound was heard outside and then the lights went out. ''Oh dear, what has happened?'' asked Jordan. ''I think the power has gone out,'' said Annie. ''I'll go and see what has happened,'' said Pete. He was outside and when he saw how much destruction the storm had caused he was so mad! ''All right storm, you may have beat some powerlines but you can't beat me, bring it on!'' said Pete. Suddenly lightning flashed and it buzzed all over him! ''All right storm you beat me i'd better go inside so i can be nice and warm,'' said Pete. ''Oh yeah i forgot we have no power all because of this stu-'', and then suddenly he bumped into a wall! ''Ouch oh my god i think i just lost my memory there,'' said Pete. Fortunetley he didn't lose his memory although the lights were still out. 2 hours later the power was still out. ''Oh my god i am really fed up with no lights,'' said Jordan. Suddenly something whirred and then the lights were back on. ''Yay we've got lights again,'' everyone said. And from then on the lights stayed on forever!
The End!

Well, wasn't that a thrill and a half?! It honestly astounds me that the words ''excellent story'' are written at the end of each of these in my copies. These are awful! Couple of stray observations:
- One does not get struck by lightning and recover that quickly! Pete reacted to the lightning strike as if he was reacting to a housefly landing on him or something. Is Pete some sort of extra-terrestrial being who has grown up being able to withstand the intense heat and shock of lightning strikes? Do lightning strikes not faze him in the slightest, even though walking into walls gives him minor concussion/amnesia?
- Talk about mundane as heck. This is something that happens to everyone at some point. This is not something that should be the plot of a high octane, nail-biting thriller written by an eight-year-old. I do venture into a more fantasy vein in the next few stories, but dear Lord, this was a slug to type out.Overall rating - 3 out of 10. Boring to read, boring to type, boring.
Join us next time for a special Christmas story! Ho ho bloody ho!
(Today's song is 'Rain' by the Beatles, the b-side of their 1966 single 'Paperback Writer'. Featuring what is probably both Ringo and Paul's finest recorded performances on drums and bass respectively.)
