Chapter 7

Winter's POV

It was next week after Jason lost his memories and Percy's(Was that his name?) disappearance. I went outside to see everyone working. The Hephaestus kids were carrying logs into their cabin, the Athena kids were solving some stuff beside the trees as Annabeth roamed around the camp, checking if the things we're doing are right, the Hermes kids were making tradings, the Aphrodite kids flirting with other demigods, the Demeter children were planting at the strawberry fields so that by the next two months, it will already be harvested. In short, everyone was busy.

I stumbled upon Annabeth and I asked her,"Can you teach me how to sword fight?" But she said,"Maybe next time."

I visited the Infirmary seeing Jason sleeping on the bed while Piper was still beside him, looking pale and had bags under her eyes. I got a chair and sat beside her. "You know you should sleep right?" I asked her.

"If sleep invites me, I wouldn't want to come." She sighs. "He still doesn't remember anything." Even if I didn't eavesdrop last night, I knew that she was going to be an Aphrodite kid.

"Not even a single bit?" I asked her. She shook her head miserably. "If you want, I'll be the one who will guard him."

"But I want to... to..." She yawned.

I crossed my arms. "Even for just the whole morning and afternoon." I said making her pout. "You really need some sleep." I hope she doesn't use charmspeak on me.

"Fine fine." She finally said, standing up. She almost fell but I caught her. I led her out the Infirmary and dragged her into the Aphrodite cabin. On the way, the other working demigods gave us some weird looks but they nodded their head afterwards in understanding. I love being in this camp because... everybody understands not like in real life.

"Get some sleep okay?" I told her.

She nodded and lied down on her bed. "Yes... Jason." She mumbled.

My eyes widened but I just closed the door silently, hoping that she won't wake up. I went back to the Infirmary, and saw Jason sitting on the bed, drinking soup. "Hey Jason." I said, the moment I was near him. I sat on the chair, the place were I was sitting a while ago.

"Where's that Piper girl?" He asked. "She's pretty don't you think?"

I wanted to giggle. "Yeah, she is."

"Were we close?" He asked, sipping the soup from his bowl.

She was your girlfriend until you lost your memory. I wanted to say.

"Very very close." I said. "More than you could ever imagine." I really ship them both. Like I'll go down with this ship.

"Oh." He said, putting the empty bowl on the table. "Like best friends." Okay, I didn't want to continue this conversation. "Were we friends?"

"Yeah... Kind of." I shrugged. I swear, I don't want to keep on this conversation. "Piper, Leo, You, and I were really close until..." I bit my lip. "You lost your memory." I still wasn't sure if we were best friends or just friends.

"I see..." He said.

The sun was already setting when I said bye to him and I went back to Piper in Aphrodite cabin. She was there on her bunk, staring at the mattress above her. "Any improvements?" She asked me.

"None." I said. She frowned like I made her lose more hope. "I'm really sorry. I wish I could help mo-"

"It's fine." She replaced her frown with a smile. "Watching Jason for the whole day means a lot to me."

"Well..." I scratched the back of my neck, looking for the words I need to say. "You needed some sleep. And that's what friends are for right?"

She grinned like what I just said was a compliment. "Thanks." Was the only thing that escaped her lips. She did the most surprising thing ever; hug me. I was completely surprised but I hugged her back anyway. She broke the hug. "I'll go back to the Infirmary."

~~~~~
It was finally two months from Percy's disappearance and Jason's loss of memories. And the day that I'll finally go in that ship.
The plan is to wear my camouflage suit and sneak into the ship as it is newly made. There was a back door so I could be like Santa and just go inside with a garbage bag but... the difference is I'm not that big and I'm a girl plus, I don't have a beard.
I was there watching as they built it so I know the structure.
I wore my black leather hood, my black gloves and got my x-ray vision goggles that I asked Leo to make in exchange for my dinner. I remembered that I asked him to make me the goggles at the night of campfire singing.
I remember that he said,"What for?" And he smirked at me. "You're not going to check on someone will you?" He wiggled his eyebrows making my cheeks blush. "No! Of course not!" I said, slapping his arm. Actually, he still made me one which was working perfectly.
It was in the middle of the night when I used the shortcut to the ship carrying two sacks. One was for my belongings and the other one was full of food that I stole from the Demeter kids one time. If there was anyone who'll guard the ship, I'll tell them that one of the Demeter kids left a sack. I was at the back of the ship where just right in front of me was the back entrance.
I took a step for the back entrance until a guy caught me. "Hey! What do you think you're doing?" He asked me, flashing a light on me.
"The Demeter kids forgot that there was one sack left." I lied.
"Oh okay." He smiled apologetically. "You may go then. Do you need guidance?"
Wow, since when was I good at lying?
"No. I know the ship." I grinned back at him. "That's the back entrance right?" I asked, pointing to the door in front of me. I didn't need to ask him but I need him to not have suspicions. He nodded in reply.
I went to the back entrance and looked at the guy, who was now at the chair, sleeping. I think his name was Clovin? The kid who likes to sleep. Chiron said that he'll punish him to guard the ship. Thank the gods that that was his punishment.
I put my goggles on, just to check if there was anyone inside. Through the green and white screen, there was no one.
I went inside the back entrance and looked for a hiding place. I think behind the sacks is good enough. I hope Clovin doesn't notice that I haven't returned when he wakes up.
I smiled, proud of what I've just done tonight.
