Prologue

I walked around the castle smiling at the Bambi dolls lying on the floor.

"Daddy?" I called as I wandered the halls.

Hearing the boys playing video games in the livingroom I went to Daddy's study.

"Daddy." I said upon entering the study.

"Yes princess?" He said and I looked at the wrinkles around his eyes. He looked so much older.

"Can I go topside? I've been down here for so long." I said and pouted.

"Be careful princess." He said and we both smiled.

I skipped out of his study and smiled happily.

*Chase's POV*

I stared out the window and sighed.

I was worrying my lip, a habit I had developed before my transition. And looked to my left to see my beta, Marcus, standing there with a frown on his face.

"What?" I said and internally groaned at the high pitch to my voice.

"You need to leave this office. Nothing's going to bring him back Chloe. Nothing will bring back Chase. Not even looking like this, looking like him." Marcus said and I immediately turned to look at him with a scowl.

"Shut. Up." I growled out and stalked out of my office. "I'm going out."

I threw on a jacket and went into town. I knew I needed to get away and not think about him.

While wandering around in town I saw the most beautiful girl looking at everything in wonder.

I smiled as I saw her red hair flowing behind her. I walked up to her and offered her my help.

"Can I help you?" I asked in my slightly too high voice.

"Ummmm, probably." She said in her slightly too low voice and I smiled as she blushed.

"What do you need help with?" I questioned and wrapped an arm around her shoulders.

"Mate!" My wolf, Jack, cried happily and started wagging his tail.

I smiled. "I'm new and I don't know anyone." She replied and relaxed into my side.

"I'll help you." I said. "I'm Chase."

"Kayla." She replied.

"That's a pretty name." I said and knew we'd get along just fine.
