Chapter 6: Recover

I heard a beeping noise as I regained consciousness. I have no idea what happened, all I know is that I'm not at home. I opened my eyes slightly and saw Amanda right next to me. I tried to sit up but the beeping quickened and she pushed me back down.

Amanda: I see you're awake

Me: Mhm, what happened?

Amanda: You and Ally were racing-

Me: Like always

Amanda: Yeah, and you forgot your inhaler and ran down 50 flights of stairs. You passed out from lack of oxygen around noon and slept for 35 hours

Me: I was supposed to have called my mom twice by now! I need my phone! Right now!

Amanda: Calm down, Shay. We told your mom what happened

Me: Yeah! But I need to tell her I'm all right! That she doesn't have to worry anymore! I'm all she has left with her!

Amanda sighed as she saw tears coming out of my eyes. She knew I was right. My sisters had graduated college last year and moved out on their own. They both live in New York now and my brother hasn't talked to us in two years, I don't know where he is. She handed me my ophone and I typed in my mom's number. She answered on the first ring.

Mom: Hello? Is she all right?

Me: Hey, Mommy. It's me, I'm all right

Mom: Oh, thank God! I knew it wasn't a good idea!

Me: It's a good idea! I was just being stupid, like usual, and fcorgot my inhaler. I didn't even have my purse or phone or anything. From now on I will bring my purse everywhere and have my inhaler in it at all times, I promise

Mom: Okay... I guess... but you still need to call twice a day!

Me: Okay, I will. I promise

Mom: Okay, I'm glad you're safe

Me: Me too

Mom: I was so scared you were going to leave me

Me: I would never leave you, it would hurt too much. You're my Mommy

Mom: And you're my daughter. I couldn't have wished for anything more than you and your siblings

Me: Thanks, Mommy. You're the best Mommy in the world

Mom: I have to go now but call me back later, okay?

Me: Okay, bye Mamma

Mom: Bye, sweetie

I heard the click of her hanging up and closed my phone. I looked at the time and saw that it was 11 PM. I really was asleep for 35 hours, it was almost the 27th. I noticed that my stomach felt empty. I realized that I hadn't eaten in almost two days. I handed Amanda my phone.

Me: I'm hungry! Get me food, bitch!

Amanda: Back to yourself already, what do you want?

Me: Um... McDonald's

Amanda: Okay, I know what you always get, I'll have Ally order it because she knows German. Coffee or Strawberry shake if they have both?

Me: Um... coffee. I need caffine so if they have both I want coffee. If they only have one get that and if they don't have either I guess get chocolate unless they have mint, then get that. Coffee>Mint, Mint>Strawberry, Strawberry>Chocolate, Chocolate>Vanilla. Got it memorized? (Sorry, Axel moment!)

Amanda: I think so... Coffee is better than mint, mint is better than strawberry, strawberry is better than chocolate, chocolate is better than vanilla?

Me: Yup! Now get me some food, woman!

She sighed and left. Seconds after she left the room Addie and Amber ran in.

Addie: Are you okay?!

Amber: Do you hurt?

Addie: Do you need help with anything?

Amber: Is it-

Me: I'm fine. I don't need anything, Amanda is getting me McDonald's with Ally so I'm all set.

Addie: Are you sure?

Me: Definately, do you by any chance have any of my books with you?

Addie: No, dammit. I thought we forgot something

Me: Ha ha, it's fine. I was joking

Amber: Wow, fail, Addie. You're such a blond!

Addie: Don't pick on my hair color

Me: Yeah, Amber, I'm blond too!

Amber: Shit! I always forget! You've had your hair dyed since you were, like, 12, right?

Me: Yeah, mid february of my 7th grade year. Dyed it black and chopped it all off. Now it's still dyed black but it's growing out pretty long now

Addie: I like it long

Me: Me too

Just the, Amanda and Ally burst in the room with a bag and a milkshake. I grinned.

Me: Yummy! Gimme, gimme, gimme!

They all laughed and Amanda handed me the bag while putting a straw in my milkshake and taking a sip.

Me: Give me my shake, bitch!

Amanda: No! My coffee!

Me: Nooooooooo! Give the oxygen challenged girl her milkshake!

Amanda: No

Me: NOW!

Amanda handed me the shake and took a step back. I was scary when I was pissed and with my brain being screwed up, I'm getting pissed really easily right now.

Me: Sorry, Panda. My brain is screwed up right now

Amanda: It's okay, hun. I know you didn't mean it

She gave me a hug and let me eat my food. Once I was finished she called in a doctor to check on me.

Amanda: Is she going to be okay?

Doctor: She will be fine

The doctor was tall with dark hair and brown eyes. He had an extremely heavy accent like he only knew a few words and rarely said them.

Ally: When can she go home?

Doctor: In the morning

Addie: Okay, thank you, Doctor

Doctor: You're very welcome
