Sofie glanced down at the pink and blue intertwined strings, an accessory on her thin wrist. She thought back to that day, the day her best friend, or she had thought, gave it to her.

"Sofie, let's be best friends forever and ever!" Alena cooed, handing Sofie a thin bracelet. Sofie gladly took it, placing it on her wrist. She was finally in the cool crowd, best friends with the most popular girl in school!

She had worn it all these years, even though she had never received an apology, never received a phone call, nothing. Because she hoped, oh did she hope, that they were still friends. But today she was done hoping.

She picked up the scissors she had set on the table, opening them like a lion would open his jaws. She cut the thin strings, until they fell apart, no longer intertwined. "No longer best friends," she whispered, "not forever."

Alena felt the scissors cut through her, as she silently screamed. Sofie had finally done it. She had cut through the bracelet, which was connected to Alena's veins.

Alena had trusted her with her veins, the bracelet. "No longer best friends," she heard echoing through her ears as she bled out.
