Chapter Four
Aurora
I'm awoken by a slam of a door, it rattled on its hinges as it hits the wall and reverberated through the house. "Nash?" I call out, rubbing my eyes and shuffling from the couch into the hallway, the sun had just began to set, I hadn't planned on falling asleep but Archer seemed content taking a nap so I thought I'd join.
"Honey, I'm home." the voice spikes the back of my neck, it prickles and burns over my skin as I freeze in the doorway.
He stands in front of me, clean cut bachelor with whiskey on his breath and fire behind those cold hazel eyes, nothing like Archers. They were dark and cold, they had no glow of happiness, but they were blood shot and fierce.
"How did you find me? What are you doing here?" I croak, my throat groggy and tight, he starts to stagger toward me and I move slowly away, towards the phone where my fingers bump into the corner of the table where it sits.
"I've been watching you... I've been watching you with my son and that fuck, how dare you let him call him dad. I'm his dad! You are mine!" he storms toward me, grabbing my forearms that have pushed up to try stop him but his grip is too tight.
The flesh throbs under his touch, I can feel every pulse and pain of my veins, I wince and suck in a breath through my teeth. He pulls me away from the wall with a roar and pushes me to the floor, my hip connects to the solid wood floor and my shoulder lodges at a funny angle. "He's not here! He's with his dad!" I cry, tears slipping down my cheeks as I pick myself up off the floor.
"You fucking liar." He growls and makes his way to the stairs, with all my might I run after him, grabbing onto his suit jacket and arm to tug his determined stride back away.
"No!" I yelp, but a chest reverberating growl erupts from his chest and I find myself knocked back, a sting in my cheek and eye where his elbow connects. The blow makes me fall hard, by body hits the floor with a thud and a sob, my head connects with the wooden surface and a spike of pain whips down my neck.
"You did this! You fucked me over! I lost my job! I lost my family- and now you won't let me see my son!" his blonde hair is now a flyaway mess on his head, the hairline receding and a small shimmer of sweat is decorating his forehead. A hard kick is pressed hard to my ribs, a foot to my side, a stomp to my back. I feel the pain spike inside me, the breathlessness and pounding in my head as black dots coat my vision.
Don't let him take my baby, I plead, I beg. I pray that my son will be safe.
Spirals fill my eyes, pounding in my head and the distant sound of a belt makes me break out one last sob, one last tear before I black out from the pain.
