I am not the author of this, however I felt it to be one of the most inspiring writings.

I am a Ballroom Dancer

When I was a little girl, every time I heard music I would jump up and bounce around to the beat of the song. I have always been a dancer, the people close to me know I am a dancer, and outsiders know I am a dancer. I am a ballroom dancer.

I am a ballroom dancer. I see myself as a dancer everyday. I go to dance classes five days a week. I have put sweat, blood, and tears into dance classes. The dance classes last between three to five hours. In dance class, we usually dance to Michael Buble if we do the waltz or foxtrot. If we dance a fast Latin dance then we listen to something more upbeat like Pit-bull, for instance. I practiced dancing so much I wiped hot sweat from my forehead, and it rolled into my mouth. When I leave dance practice it always smells like a bunch of body builders from Gold’s Gym have been working out. I practice at home everyday in my bedroom because I have a wall length, shiny mirror I can watch myself dance in. The mirror also motivates me to become a better dancer because I can see when I make mistakes. I watch dance movies and I read dance magazines. I am a ballroom dancer, I see myself as a dancer everyday.

I am a ballroom dancer. The people close to me see me as a dancer everyday. My sister, Heather, came to dance class with me a few weeks ago. She saw the hard work and skills that I have to become the amazing dancer I am today. My mom sees that I am a dancer because she pays for my dance classes and outfits. My mom sees how happy dancing makes me. She bought this dark blue, sequined dancing outfit for one of my competitions. The dancing outfit resembled an outfit off of Dancing with the Stars. At the end of the day she knows it is worth all the money; she puts into the classes I take. My boyfriend, Johnny, came to one of my competitions called, Garden City Dance Challenge. During this competition, we danced to “Don’t Stop the Party” by Pit-bull. After my competition was over, we ate at O’Charley’s. Fried foods were being sizzled, and it smelled of grease and alcohol.  I am a ballroom dancer, and the people close to me see as a dancer.

I am a ballroom dancer. People who are outside of my life see I am a dancer everyday. The mailman knows I am a dancer. When I order nude dance shoes, the mailman brings them to me in a FedEx truck or a UPS truck. The neighbors know I am a dancer. When I leave for dance shows, I have my dance outfit on. I smell fresh cut grass, when I walk outside in my dance outfit. My dance outfits are usually glitter, sequined covered from top to bottom. They are short so I can dance, and the outfit will not be in the way. The teachers from high school know I am a dancer. I did my high school talent show competition, all the teachers and whole student body was there to see me dance. When I was dancing, the tapping from my dancing shoes, and the soft sound of the music was playing. After I was done dancing, I looked around, the room was quiet, and every ones eyes were filled with tears. I am a ballroom dancer, and people who are outside my life know I am a dancer.

I have always been a dancer. I know I am a ballroom dancer, the people close to me know I am a dancer, and outsiders know I am a dancer. I think ballroom dancing will always be apart of my life. I am a ballroom dancer.
