PART I
On either side of the road stands
Blocks of housing estates that looked quite bland
That clothe the world and meet the sky
And behind the houses a ditch runs by
Through the many blocked Camelot
Up and down the streets they go
Looking where the litter blows
Round a flat just like the others
The flat 'Small Onion Shalott'
People eat and then they litter
There wrappings blow creating clutter
Through the road that runs forever
By the flat like a tower
Cars always riding to Camelot
One specific tower block flat
Over looks the city below
Embowered in it meant to sew
The young girl of Shalott
They have all heard her parties loud
Seen the drink brought through the grounds
Always in debt doesn't pay a pound
Never leaves as if she is housebound
Never ventured in to Camelot
Everybody is waken early
By the noise of her house parties
The noise booms out like a plea to be free
From the grimy windows of 'Small Onion Shalott'
PART II
There she hosts parties by day and night
She's never really there, always out of sight
You can sometimes see her in the starlight
Always isolated staring at her mirrors delights
Looking down to the city Camelot
She knows she must never leave
Because of her curse, the ecstasy
Been locked away but looking for her key
Her saviour to take her from 'Small Onion Shalott''
And moving through her mirror clear
That hangs before her all the year
Shadows of the world appear
There she sees the highway near
Winding down to Camelot
There the river eddy whirls
And there the surly village-churls
And the hoodies of teen boys and girls
Pass the block containing 'Small Onion Shallot'
But on Facebook she still delights
To search for her sights
And sometimes through the silent nights
A gang of men having fights
Their angered shouts were heard from Camelot
Or when the moon was overhead
Came a hen night the hen filled with dread
"I am sick of the mirrors glories" said
The young girl of Shalott
PART III
Cupids arrow had shot her heart
He cycled through only metres apart
Taking papers to her block then did depart
Of ________ ______ Lancelot
His cap a red-cross on white
Of England football winning with might
____________________
Down at the grounds of her flat 'Small Onion Shalott'
The frame of his bike a deep great blue
Like the ocean waves flowing through
And all her insides turned to goo
When their eyes caught his the shade of honeydew
As he turned to give more papers in Camelot
As he rode his iPod in pocket
Sang a song that freed her lock
"_____________"
___________________ Lancelot
She left the computer she rose from her chair
And stumbled knocking objects everywhere
And her room the first time noticed threadbare
She saw his curls of coal black hair
As she looked down to Camelot
The computer she smashed out the window
The mirror cracked from high to low
"The ecstasy has made my head ache and everything glows"
Murmured the young girl of Shalott
PART IV
A thunderous black storm became
And from the base shot a flame
From the flats a groan came
The wind pulled the rain untamed
Over the city Camelot
Down she came her vision blurry
Wearing her dress an old shopping spree
She found her car and found her key
From when she once looked with grace over Camelot
And down the roads dim expanse
Like some bold seer in a trance
With a glassy countenance
Did she she look for Lancelot
And at the closing of the day
She loosed the chain and down she lay
The cars around her on the motorway
Crashed in to her car 'The Young Girl Of Shalott'
Lying robed in snowy white
That clung to her sides, left and right
The car turned over and over in the falling light
Cars honked getting involved in the fight
She got pulled and pushed to Camelot
