My name is Emily. I live in Colorado. I've known Justin Bieber's family since before I was born. I have had a crush on him ever since I was about 12...well that was last year...he's fourteen now and I'm thirteen.

I watched as the basketball sailed into the net. I studied the face of the boy who had shot it. His big grin was hidden behind his long dark brown hair that hung in his face. He shook it off his face and turned to look behind him.

“Nice shot, Justin,” called another boy, coming over to high-five him.

Justin grinned. “Thanks. I was even afraid it was even going to go in,” he admitted and started to retrieve the ball that had bounced off onto the grass. He glanced in my direction.

I quickly jumped and ran over to it. I picked it up, dribbled it a couple of times, and then glanced up at the net. I continued to dribble the basketball as I headed for the net.

Catching the opportunity, Justin started after me.

I ran faster, keeping the dribble at a steady rate. I actually was surprised Justin had run after me. But he was gaining on me. I glanced at the net again and continued towards it.

Suddenly, Justin reached out and tried to steal the ball.

I laughed and dribbled it out of his reach. I started down the court again. Knowing Justin would try and steal at any chance that came his way, I decided to take a shot. The ball sailed through the air and I prayed it would go in. To my surprise, the ball did sail neatly into the net and I jumped into the air. I spun around to look at Justin’s impressed expression. He lifted his hand and I gave him a high five.

The other boy, Keith, my brother walked over. “So… why don’t we start a regular game?” He suggested.

“Yeah!” I agreed.

“With the girls you mean?” Justin asked.

Keith glanced over at the group of our sisters, and Justin’s sister, playing cards on the grass. “Sure,” he replied. “Hey, girls? Wanna come over and play basketball?” He called.

The girls looked up and glanced at each other. “Sure!” replied Catherine, my oldest sister, speaking for all of them. They stood up and started over.

“Who are the captains?” wondered Keith as everyone gathered around.

“Can I be one?” I pleaded excitedly.

Emily, the girl my age (with the same name as me), blurted out at the same time, “Can I be one?”

Keith shrugged. “Go ahead…” He replied.

“Emily…Mae can go first,” Justin suggested.

I grinned. My name… I looked around me. I already knew who I was going to pick, but I didn’t want to be too quick, or they would get suspicious. “Justin,” I finally grinned.

Justin went over to stand beside me.

Emily quickly picked Keith, the only other boy.

I was deciding whether to pick Catherine, Jessica, or Erica, my other sisters.

“Pick Erica,” Justin finally suggested.

I agreed and soon the game began, with Catherine and on the other team, and Jessica coming on my side.

It was brief before I saw my pick wasn’t regretting. Justin was very good at basketball…and at being cute and before long we were winning. Well… only ahead two points. After about an hour, we called it a game.

Justin hit high fives with Erica, me and Jessica.

Just then, Junior, Justin and Emily’s younger brother, came running over. “Justin,” he called.

“Yes?” asked Justin, looking up.

“Mom said there’s lemonade and cookies for you guys,” Junior replied.

“Ok, we’ll be in there in a minute,” Justin said. He picked up the basketball and headed for the house. We followed.

At the house, Mrs. Bieber came over. “Did you have fun?” she asked, watching us take off our shoes.

We nodded, as we looked at the refreshments on the table. Without an invitation, we dashed for it.

“Why don’t you eat on the porch, Justin?” Mr. Bieber suggested from the couch where he and my dad were talking.

“Ok,” agreed Justin and we headed for the door.

Out on the front porch, I quickly sat down beside Justin. I looked up at him. Just then, he glanced at me. I froze. I didn’t just want to look away...and then his eyes narrowed as he let the fact sink in that I was staring at him.

Suddenly, Mrs. Bieber came to the door. “Justin, Selena’s parents are on the phone. Is it ok if she comes by?” She asked.

Justin let his eyes slowly look away from me and he looked up at her. “Mom, the Soniers are here,” he protested.

“Justin, why can’t they get to know each other?” Mrs. Bieber demanded.

Justin shrugged and finally replied, “Ok, whatever.”

Mrs. Bieber laughed. “Why did I ever ask you?” She teased.

“I don’t know; why did you?” Justin replied.

Mrs. Bieber shook her head and left the room.

Instantly Catherine spoke. “Who’s Selena?” She asked.

“She’s a girl from AWANA,” Justin replied.

Emily stood up and looked around. “What are we going to play now?” She wondered.

“We should wait for Selena,” Justin answered.

Emily shrugged and Catherine stood up also. “We can go play on the swings,” she suggested.

Jessica and Erica also stood up and they turned to leave the porch.

I glanced up at Justin and wondered if I should go, too. As they disappeared around the side of the house, I was left in awkward silence. I was trying to think of something to say when suddenly Keith broke the silence. “Did you know you could…” and he began to talk about a game on Facebook.

Justin looked up and answered Keith’s question. I stared into his deep brown eyes and realized there’s nothing I’d rather be staring into.

After about ten minutes, a car pulled into the driveway, and stole our attention.

The girls appeared around the corner again and we watched as a brown-haired girl stepped from the car. She waved as it drove off. Then she waved at us and walked over.

After the introductions, Selena smiled at Justin. Catching the smile, I started to wonder about her.

“Are we going to play baseball now?” Emily finally asked.

Justin shrugged. “Sure.”

“The equipment’s in the shed,” Keith grinned.

“Are you going to get it?” Justin asked.

Keith shrugged. “I’m too lazy,” he replied.

Justin grinned and started to go to the shed. “Anyone wanna help get the stuff out?” He asked as he stopped to look behind him.

“Me!” I cried out. As I walked towards him, I saw with a disgusted look, Selena was following.

My heart sank as I heard Selena and Justin talking as we gathered the things. Who was this girl anyway??
