The Dark Side

Chapter 17

I woke up with a large bandage wrapped around my waist, with a red stain on it. I felt like some one had punched the breath out of me. I sat up and focused my vision. I saw James sleeping on the other side of the shuttle and Joe flying the ship. I struggle to my feet and linger over to the co-pilot seat next to Joe.

"What happened?" I yawned.

Joe leaned over to me and kissed the side of my head then continued flying the ship. "Well, ya didn't get to your seat on time. The boost sent you flyin' to the back of the shuttle and slammed you into that pipe, and it knocked ya out."

I looked to the back of the shuttle and saw a pipe sticking out of the wall. Why do all alternative shuttles have that?

"So..." Joe continued. "Once we got into space I tended to ya. James said that ya've been shot, so I stitched and patched you up."

I peeked under the bandage wrapped around me and saw the stitches that Joe gave me. The wound was still bleeding a bit, but I felt fine.

"Oh, that's gonna leave a scar." I whined.

Finally James woke up and came over "Who's hungry?" He said.

"I am." said Joe as I slightly raised my hand.

James slapped us both on the back then dug through the supplies box that we stole.

"Here's the battery powered

microwave and..... I know I saw sausages some were!"

"Are those the ones that come in the biscuits?" Joe asked.

"Yep! I found them." James answered.

Joe made silent fist pump.

I slumped back in my chair and sighed.

"What's wrong Mell?" Said Joe rubbing my arm.

I shrugged and let my head fall to my shoulder. "I don't know. I just feel so drowsy. Oh, and sorry for kidnapping you.... It was James' idea"

"What?!" James denied.

"Don't worry about it." Said Joe giggling. "Were even know."

"Even?" I questioned.

"Remember when he got you drunk?" Said James. "Dang Mell, you got a nice a-"

"OK! Ok." I broke in. "I get it, were even."

Suddenly loud "Ding!" came from the back of the shuttle that scared me. Joe kinda laughed when he saw me jump. It was just the microwave. James came over and gave us both some sausage biscuits on paper plates. Joe put the shuttle on auto-pilot while he ate. I noticed that everyone had two biscuits and I had four.

"Why did you give me so much?" I asked.

"Cause you were out for two days." James said.

I spit out my food. "Two Days! That doesn't make sense!"

Joe nudged at James roughly. I looked at them confused. It doesn't really matter I guess. So if It had been two days then we should almost be at the moon. But... were is the moon?

"Were are we going?" I asked.

"The moon, Duh." Said James.

"I don't see the moon." I said pointing out the window.

"Because it's a new moon right now" Joe explained.

"Oh..."

I sat and waited for a couple minutes till I began to feel cold. I got up and walked to the box of supplies and looked for some thing that I could use to cover myself. I saw a box of soaps, more biscuits, medical kit, brushes for hair and teeth with toothpaste, and a black plastic bag with something squishy in it. The bag made me curious. I pulled it out, and right before I opened it James came out of no were and snagged it from me.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Lets not open that." He said putting the bag back in the box.

"Whats wrong with the bag?" I asked.

"Lets just say it will stink if you open it."

"Well, I'm cold" I said.

James searched deeper in the box and pulled out a fire blanket. It was a bit itchy, but it was warm. I sat back in my seat and just closed my eyes till I eventually feel asleep.

I had a dream that I was in a huge white room. I saw Earth with his family. He hugged his wife and son tightly without letting go. He looked over his wife's shoulder at me. I saw that he was wearing some band around his neck with some kind of metal pellet on it., and was holding the amulet I in his hand. He smiled an said... "Thank you." with a metalic voice. The metal pellet blinked as he spoke. Where did he get it?

Joe woke me up and told me that we had arived. I opened my eyes and saw nothing but pitch black outside of the window. I thought he would wake me up when we were almost there. But no. I got up and slipped into my suit...wait....I don't need a suit. James carried the supplies. We didn't bring much stuff because we left all our previous supplies back at the cabin. But now that I think of it, the cabin might be full of ice....-_-'

We all got out our flashlights and found our way back to the cabin. And yes, I was right. The floor was covered in ice. The ice was so cold that it stuck to the bottom of our boots. The old supplies was still good but the box was stuck to the floor.

"Damn Mell, What have you been up to?" James said.

I rolled my eyes. Me and Joe tried to pull the boxes out of the ice but it was permenatly frozen to the floor,. At least we could open it. We got what we needed from the boxes which was just some jackets and batteries for our flashlights.

"So were is your alien friend?" Joe asked.

"Follow me." I leaded the guys to the cave were Earth took me, but when we arrived the crater was caved in.

"Mell, this is a crater. Not a cave." said James.

I jumped into the crater and began digging in the dirt. Then I heard chirping from the other side.

"Holy crap! There are aliens"

Joe and James joined me in digging the gravel out. We maneged to make a small hole and a hand reached out of the hole. It's Earth ,Or I think it is. He was yelling at me but I couldn't understand him. Suddenly I saw his friend charging for us. He leeped into the crater. Then Joe swung his flashlight at his head and knocked him out in midair. He landed right on top of James, and knocked him down. James quickly scrambled to his feet.

"I told you they would try to kill us!"

"Oh my God! Did you kill him?!" I gasped as I saw blood ooze on the side of alien's head.

I looked back at the small hole in the crater and saw Earth squeezing through it. Then I helped him out. He grew to a very tall size and yelled at the other aliens on the other side of the hole. I heard feet patting on the floor and then silence. Earth stomped his foot into the gravel and the whole wall caved in, then a bunch of dust filled the air. Hundreds of the aliens scattered out side looking for those plants. I looked inside the cave, cause I remembered seeing more plants in there. But I guess they had eaten them all. Did Earth's friend try to starve the others to death? I looked at him laying on the ground.

"Why would your friend do such a thing?" I said to Earth.

He just shrugged his shoulders. I saw that he was very thin and tired.

"You should go get some food, I'll wait for you inside." I said.

Earth let out a small chirp and ran off to gather some plants. I lead Joe and James inside the cave and we waited for the others to come back. Finally Earth came back and I was buzzing with questions.

"What happened while I was gone?" I asked him.

Earth beggan chirping making gesters with his hands trying to explain what was going on, but it was pointless. There was no way I could understand him. Then I remembered the odd looking amulet that I found back in the garage. It's has to have something to do with his race. I pulled it out of my pocket and showed it to him.

"Do you know what this is?" I asked pointing to the amulet.

Earth's eyes widened, and he snached the amulet from me and ran down the cave to his home.
