Jack follows my gaze and giggles softly when he sees who I'm staring at.

"That's Nash, he's a catatonic schizophrenic. Supposedly he's been here since he was 5 years old, so he was practically raised by the staff here. He has two extremes he's either really catatonic like doesn't move unless he's moved and just lies in bed, doesn't talk ever. The other is like a hyperactive state where he's repeating the same word over and over, he makes the same movements, usually slamming himself into a wall. That's when they have to tie the straight jacket he has on and then they tie him to the bed. Like... no one has ever visited him, so we think by this point he's a ward of the state and that's why he's still here." Jack explains, giving me juicy information without me having to ask him.

"In either state he never communicates with anyone and we don't even know if he knows how to talk. He's been here so long that he's probably stupid... like I bet he never got to go to any school, I doubt the people here give as hit about his education but really how could he learn anyway?" Jack asks almost to himself but I stay quiet as I stare at the boy who's caught my attention.

I catch a glimpse of his face and my breath catches because he has these brilliant blue eyes that leave me stunned. His milky, smooth skin with freckles offset the pink, lush looking lips.

I do believe I just found my pet project.

"Are we allowed to like... try to interact with him?" I ask and Jack laughs at me.

"You can try and fail like everyone before you." He says cockily and his superior attitude is getting on my nerves.

"My voices are telling me to choke you," I turn my head and look him right in the eyes. His eyes widen and he shrinks back, he moves his chair a little bit away from me. I smirk internally as I stare at him.

"U-uhm... y-your voices have no chill," he tries to be funny but stutters and shows he's actually scared of me.

I don't reply, I just look back at Nash and continue to eat my food.

The worker is trying to feed Nash but he's not opening his mouth, she's speaking lowly to him, trying to get him to eat but he just has an unfocused gaze and I wonder what's going through his mind. Maybe nothing.

When the meal time is over the worker leads Nash away first, he didn't have a bite to eat and then the rest of us follow behind them. Everyone disperses to their rooms but I follow the worker and Nash. She leads him into a room and I got up to it, I stand at the doorway. None of the bedrooms have doors, there's no privacy here. Only the meal room has a door which they close after meal time is over.

There's only one bed in this room, she leads him to the bed and then nudges him gently until he sits down on it. She swings his legs over and pulls the cover over him. She has a gentle touch that shows that maybe she does care for him.

Interesting.

I bet the story that he's been here since he was five is probably true.

She jumps slightly as she turns to leave.

"Oh, goodness. You scared me. Are you here to visit Nash?" She asks but she tilts her head because she probably doesn't recognize me.

"Yes... I'm new here. I'm Cameron, I just arrived today." I tell her and she looks back at Nash with a fond look on her face.

"I always think Nash needs more interaction with people but they get bored so easily since he never actually reacts to what you say or do. But I think it's nice for someone that's not me to at least spend time with him," she says quietly. "I'm Nila, by the way."

"I can sit with him..." I offer as I let the sentence trail off.

"Oh that would be lovely, I'll be back for dinner. Please alert us if he starts acting up, he likes to slam himself against that wall." She tells me and I look around again. That's when I notice that the room is completely padded, walls and everything. The other room have the stone walls that probably make it freezing in the winter.
