Lage. That name echoed through the young caustic cerberus' mind. The name brought fear to him, but he wouldn't be scared today, not this time, she threatened his friends lives. This was no time for fear. Only action. Rex's hands hovered over his two caustic Five-Sevens, 'Meltdown and Nuclear' ready to unleash hell on the siren who had ruined his life with the nightmares and the scars she had given him. Rex felt anger surge through him, along side the fear, he was anxious to say the least, it was him and only him against the siren, no Koda, JR, Midnight, or anyone else. He continued through the cave system, on full alert, evaluating every sound, smell that he could. So far, he had come to the conclusion that he was close, very close.
He came to a small open space in the cave. Bones and corpses littered the area, most of the intact bodies had a huge hole in their chest, hearts missing. Rex knelt down, picking up a fairly large bone, he shoved it in his pack, continuing on, hearing his friends, mostly Midnight, "You never get away with this you sick bastard!" "Oh? And who will stop me? Poor little Rex is a no show... What was it? Midnight?" Lage cackled. Rex hid behind some rocks, peering over at Lage and his friends. "Now, I'm off to find your little caustic friend, and I. Will. Bury. Him." She cackled again. Rex saw an opening, a chance for a surprise, with that opportunity, he chucked the bone at the Siren, hitting her in the back of the head. "Who dares!" "Hey Lage!" He yelled, drawing his two trusty sidearms out, "I've got a bone to pick with you!" He let off a burst from the pistols, not afraid this time, only having time to think if saving his friends. She screeched as the acidic bullets hit her shoulder, and dived into the water. Rex ran over to the cage his friends were in, shooting off the lock. "Good job, kid." Midnight ruffled his hair before running to the entrance, Chyanne in his arms. The others started to run out, going towards the surface, Lage had hurt them all pretty badly.
"Y-you came." Xaz stuttered, still sitting in the cage. "I wouldn't just leave you all to die, e-especially you..." Rex's face went red after saying that, his deeply rooted crush for Xaz was well known amongst the others, yet he still was shy when talking about it. "Well isn't this touching?" A sarcastic voice rang through the cave, Lage rising up from the water, a horrid acid burn on her shoulder. "Go..." He motioned to Xaz, "Wh-what about-" she started to say "Just go Xaz, I'll be fine." He gave a grin that even JR would approve of, dashing to meet Lage in combat, she did the same scowling at the young cerberus. His marks glowed, form changing from his human disguise into a caustic cerberus, a sight that was revolting. Holes riddled his body, parasite were visible in them. The two dove for each other slashing each other, biting, kicking, screeching. This continued on for a while, then Lage hit Rex on his marks then threw him to the ground a couple of yards away, that hit had reactivated his disguise, and the marks went dark, recoiling from the hit. Rex felt helpless as Lage slowly slithered to him, grinning. "I'm going to enjoy this, Rex, so long have I waited for this opportunity to draw you in and kill you..." She spoke in a soft tone, chilling him down to the bone. Then Midnight's voice rang through the cave, "Rex! Catch!" He looked back at the Shadow cerberus, throwing his golden plated hand cannon to him, it shined brightly, Rex had caught it, the hand cannon feeling like sunlight as he grasped ahold of it. Lage knew. She knew if Rex shot her with it, it'd be all over, she rushed Rex, whom took aim at the Siren, hoping he didn't miss, hoping the shot would be enough... The gun kicked harshly as he shot it, followed by a loud screech. The bullet hit her in the chest, the heart, she kept coming, slower, and slower, right as she was right in front of him, she collapsed onto his laying body, stuttering, "I-i was s-supposed to kill you, ch-child..." She died seconds after. Rex pushed her corpse off of him, gasping harshly, he didn't believe it, he did it. He finally found peace, his fears ceased, Lage was truly dead. "By NightWind's grace, you did it!" Midnight exclaimed, helping Rex up, taking the hand cannon back. The two found their way up to the surface. The heroes celebrated Rex's victory. But, there was a far bigger threat ahead.
