Prologue

Long ago there was a Great War between the Were's.

The children of Avem, and the children of Lupus were locked in a dangerous battle. Blood covering the forest ground. The children of Avem fighting with razor sharp beaks and talons, while the children of Lupus had an equal advantage of tooth and claw. Women and children watch helplessly as there beloved mate or father is locked in battle.

The battle rages on until a hybrid of both the child of Avem and Lupus emerges. The Lupem from the prophecy. It is said that every 100,000 years there will be an Avem, bird and a Lupus, wolf that will be paired as mates and there child shall be a Lupem, the bird wolf.

The Lupem said that it is carrying a message from Lupus and Avem themselves. Stop the war or our race shall not live any longer. Those 11 words from 2 powerful gods stopped the battle. Men morphed from bird and wolf back to human. And there has been peace between the children of Avem and Lupus ever since. For a few it was too late, for some it was already the end, for many it was just the beginning...

*Aderyn POV*

Flying makes me feel free. It makes me forget everything that has happened, and for once I'm at peace in life. I continue to fly through the trees of the forest keeping a low profile. No one knows I exist, every supernatural being thinks were-birds are dead. But there wrong because I'm alive.

I slowly glide back down into my home, a giant weeping willow tree. I built my nest in here. My nest is consisted of my feathers, sticks cotton, and flowers all weaved together. I made myself a pillow out of sheep wool. It's really comfortable. I shift back to human and start to eat the squirrel I caught. This is my life. Shifting, finding food, come home, shift back eat the food, and sleep. It's a continuous cycle that I have to do to keep me safe. I have clothes but they are torn, my blonde hair is clean because i bathe daily in my pond, just under my tree. My unique purple eyes help me see in the dark, and Im pretty skinny because of the such small animals I hunt. I lay down in my nest and try my hardest to sleep because its so cold. I decide to shift into a snowy owl, to keep myself warm. Then I eventually sink into a light slumber...

I woke up to my tree shaking. I screech and hold on to my nest with my talons. Below I hear growls and the sound of fur against wood. Someones knocking down my tree! I Screech and turn into a Wedge tailed eagle, which is bigger than normal because I'm a shifter. I dive down and attack the wolf pushing his body against MY tree. He must be a shifter, he is way to big to be a normal wolf. With one swipe of his paw he hits me in the face, leaving claw marks. I crash to the ground. He snarled and placed both of his paws on my wings. I screech and struggle in its grip but he has the upper hand. I eventually give in and shift to human, breathing heavily. He must have not known I was a shifter from his shocked face and he shifts back.

He circles me in human form. He has brown hair and he is actually pretty fit.

"Who are you?" He asks

"I'm Aderyn, who are you?" I reply

"I'm Will."

"Ok Will." I scowled standing up. "Why were you knocking down my tree?"

"I saw a bird, a snowy owl, and since I am on hunting patrol I decided to kill it and take it home to the pack. What I didn't expect was it to turn int another bird then into human. What are you?"

"I'm a Were-bird"

"Aren't those like extinct?!" He exclaimed

"No obviously, I've been living for 10 years alone in that tree. I was nine when the rest got wiped out. So anyway I'm going to sleep. Bye." I started walking toward the trunk of the tree when he grabbed me.

"Nope your coming with me Aderyn. I'm bringing you to the Alpha."

"NO LET GO NO ONE CAN KNOW ABOUT ME!" I run but then he catches me and throws me over his shoulder. I shift into random birds so he can loose his grip. He eventually shifts and picks up my squirming eagle form in his mouth. EWWW DOG SLOBBER!!! I continue to squirm in his mouth but its no use. I just go limp and act dead. I eventually fell asleep.

I woke up to voices.

"Dude that's so cool you got food finally!"

"She's not food Luke, look she's alive."

He drops me. I shift to human when I hit the ground.

"OW!! WILL WHAT THE HELL?!!"

"Well you looked dead and we're here so I decided to wake you up... By dropping you... On rocks." He said the last part slowly.

I jump up.

"Hey we're you going Aderyn?"

"I'm leaving what does it look like Will I don't want to be here I want to go black to my nest and sleep because SOMEONE woke me up." I shifted and went to run away when I crashed into a wall. Or should I say a damn sexy wall. I looked up and he had the brightest blue eyes ive ever seen. I stared at him and I got a warm feeling inside. He had black hair that looked so smooth I just wanted to run my fingers through it.

Mate.

I heard a voice in my head say

Mate! Go to mate!

"H-hi I'm Luke." He stuttered with a goofy smile on his face. Damn his voice is sexy

"I'm Aderyn."

"I've never seen you here before" he said.

"Well your buddy over there Will was knocking down my home trying to eat me. The savage beast. Then he carried me in his mouth! Talk about dog slobber and bad breath!it was gross. He also pawed me in the face. The Dumb ass dog brain" I rambled

Luke looked like he was going to kill someone.

"Will is that true?" He gritted out.

"Yes alpha, at the time she looked like prey."

"And how exactly did she look like prey?!" He yelled

Everyone shuttered even me.

"She-she was a bird Alpha." Will said his voice shaking

"A bird?! Your shitting me Will! Were-birds are extinct."

I finally decided to step in.

"Actually there not extinct." I then turned into barn owl and perched on Liam's shoulder. I felt sparks coursing through my talons and soon as I touched him.

Liam looked shocked

"AHHH WHAT THE HELL" then he slapped me off his shoulder.I fell to the ground an landed on my wing. The excruciating pain made me screech out. Liam then came out of his scared daze and ran over to me. "Oh my gosh! How could I have done this?! Aderyn... God dammit! Please be okay!" He looked down at me and his eyes were full of regret, pain, and guilt. Luke then cradled my bird form in his arms, and brushed away a few stray feathers. I flinched when he got to my wing. "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry..." I reached up to him with my claw and stroked his tan cheek, saying its okay. His eyes turned dark.

" no Aderyn it's not okay, I hurt you! I freakin' hurt you!!" Luke used his alpha voice and it made me cringe.

" Sorry! Here I...um...will g-get you to the doctor..." He stuttered. Aww he's so cute! I made a cooing noise and nuzzled my beak into his neck. He continued walking and stroking my face lovingly.
