Your P.O.V
"Dammit! Why did I stay out so late!"
You think to yourself as you start jogging back to your apartment which is two blocks away.
" I should've left earlier with my friend but I got to focused on that damn book!"
Your (h/c) hair whips around your face as you make you way through the deserted streets. You glance up at the sky taking in how beautiful the stars seem glowing in the darkness, then you are brought out of your happy thoughts when you remember the news report on the uprising of ghouls in the 20th ward and how many more attacks have happened in the last few nights snapping you back into reality.
"I have to be on guard not star gazing what am I thinking! I can't focus on a nothing else unless I want to be a ghouls dinner! Wait, it's gotten really quiet I better hurry up I don't want to get attac..."
Umph!
You suddenly get pushed into an alleyway dropping all your books in the process, you land on the ground with a thud.
You head is throbbing really badly from the fall giving you blurry vision to the point were you just see the outline of a figure standing in front of you. The one thing that stands out to you is the black and red gleaming eyes staring at you. Your eyes widen in shock as you realise what is happening.
" A girl like you shouldn't be walking out alone so late at night, but don't worry
I'll fix that." He chuckles
His kagune then penetrates out of his back making two sharp tentacles the colour of green and yellow whip around in the air around him.
You feel frozen like you can't move no matter how much you want to, all you can do is just sit there in fear. The ghoul takes this to advantage for easy prey  and starts sprinting at you with a devilish grin on his face.
You finally snap out of it and get up to try and run but you were not fast enough.
He pins you to the ground and stabs you in the stomach in one swift move.
It happened all so quickly you didn't have time to react, you were in so much shock and pain that you couldn't even get your scream to escape your lips.
'So this is what dying feels like?'
"Hahaha, oh I'm gonna have fun eating you, you smelt so good that I swear I would be able to smell your delicious scent a mile away!" He says with his grin never fading

'is this the end? Is this really how I was meant to die?' At the thought your eyes start to water
You hear a muffled voice coming from the other end of the alleyway breaking the silence
"Let her go and we won't have any trouble."
The ghoul that has you pinned is startled a little but then growls and gets up to face unknown person.
"You must be an idiot if you think I'm gonna let a prize like this go."

"Your choice, I gave you a chance but it looks like you want to take it the hard way."
His voice was so calm that it just didn't sound natural and you feared the worst that maybe this other guy was just another ghoul looking for a meal as well.
You tremble at that thought of how merciless some ghouls can be, but I can't really blame them seeing how the CCG kills them off.
You then hear a crack which sounded like someone has cracked their finger
You slowly lift your head to see who this mysterious person is but all you see is a flash come straight at the ghoul who attacked you, a few seconds later you see the detached head of the ghoul fall to the ground. Blood pools around the lifeless body in front of you as you just stare in shock.
You hear footsteps come closer to you from behind. You start to panic and try to get up but your body is too weak from blood loss that you just drop straight back on the ground. A tear falls down your cheek as you decide to just give in to your gruesome fate. But instead you felt a soft hand caress your cheek and wipe your tear away. You open your eyes to see a white haired male around your age, but what really confused you was that he had only one ghoul eye and one grey.
"Don't worry I'm not gonna hurt you." He whispers so only you could hear it then carefully picks you up bridal style and starts jogging into the direction of your apartment. You just stare at the ghoul confused about why he would save a human.
"Why did you save me?" You say with all the strength you have left
He looks down at you but with both eyes grey
"To be honest I don't know but maybe it's because you remind me of who I used to be."
You swore you saw a glimpse of regret and sadness in his expression but you couldn't be certain as you fall unconscious in the safety of his arms.

Time skip

You wake up to see that you are at your apartment, you had no clue in how he knew where your apartment was but you didn't really care at that point.
You realise that you are on your bed with bandages wrapped carefully around your stomach. You still felt really weak and could feel yourself drifting in and out of consciousness but you could see the white hair ghoul starting to leave.
"Wait, what is your name?" You ask in a croaky voice
He slowly looks back at you with a small smile
" Kaneki, Ken Kaneki."
You then slowly drift out of consciousness as you watch Kaneki jump out of your window.
'I hope we meet again Ken Kaneki' is the last thing you thought as you slip into a dreamless slumber.
