All of the sudden information that Kyle just fed me was swirling around in my head. It was a really crazy idea that whoever had created this academy thought that humans and vampires would get along happily without any trouble. What in the hell had they been thinking? This was too risky, too insane and too stupid. And why hadn’t the council stopped them?

“Hey Eve,” Jess greeted me when I walked into the class, “How was your little conversation with Kyle?”

“Amazing! In fact I just discovered we’re in a mixed school!” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. I glanced across the room and realized how noisy it was. People were talking non-stop, from every direction. Taking a closer look, there were people with all kind of signs on their bracelets; Star, Wing, Butterfly, Crest and Bow. Of course, the two species mixed evenly. Humans could hang out with vampires and just talk? I shook my head and rolled my eyes. Unbelievable.

Jess made a shocked face and asked, “Didn’t Max tell you about that?” She straightened her clothes and sat at the table.

I sighed in annoyance, “Everything happened too fast. I was waking up one day and suddenly out of nowhere he told me that I am going to school again.” I paused a while and continued, “Of course I argued back, there was no way in hell I was going back to study again. And yeah, I ignored him for the rest of the day.”

“Understandable.” She nodded in agreement.

“But, there is one question which keeps popping into my head; do the humans know about the signs?” I asked with a frown.

She twirled her hair and fluttered her eyelashes at some hot guy who walked passed us. I rolled my eyes when I saw her doing that. Typical Jess never changed even after a hundred years. I waved my hand in front of her to make her get back to reality. “Jess, I am the hot one here.” I joked.

She turned back to look at me and said in a serious tone. “Yes, I would definitely chase you if you were a guy.”

I scoffed, “Too bad, and answer my question!” I was eager to find out the answer.

“Well, everyone who enrolled to this academy had a choice to choose the sign they like, the wing, star, so on. And then yeah, you know it was actually covered up like that,” she explained simply.

Wow, lame method but it did work. I leaned back on the wall, trying to make myself feel comfortable. “So what lesson do we have now?” I changed the subject. I couldn’t help to groan half-heartedly about spending a few more hours in this hellhole.

“Oh Eve, I’m sure you will love this lesson,” she said happily with an evil grin on her face.

“What?” I really doubted any lesson would interest me.

“Self defence.”

My eyes widened in excitement. “Holy God, lessons where I can finally show off!” I smiled happily, like a child who finally gets the present they really wanted.

"Knew it." She rolled her eyes and added on, "Finally, I get to see your real smile.”

I moved with lightning speed and in a blink of an eye I was standing right behind a girl with shoulder length green pixie hair, my hands clutching at her throat. "Gotcha," I whispered beside her with a satisfied smirk on my face.

She stiffened for a whole second before asking in a quivering voice, "H-how did yo-u make it?" She was frightened, in fact scared to death. Droplets of sweat beaded on her forehead, and she was breathing heavily with her chest rising and falling with every breath.

She was weak.

After twenty minutes of training, which was basically attack and defence at the same time, she was never able to lay a finger on me at all while I was having fun watching her chasing me like a crazy pissed-off woman. Yet, I just stood there so calmly, as if nothing happened. If this was a real battle, I could have killed her easily. She didn’t stand a chance against me.

“You got a lot to improve on little girl.” I smirked as I let go of her, my hands covered in sweat. My face twisted in disgust. Ew!

"Stunning as always," Jess clapped her hand and grinned from ear to ear. “That’s exactly what I expect from you, and you might have improved slightly since last time.” She said with her tongue sticking out.

“Only slightly? Are you kidding? I am so much better than you by the way.” I mocked her.

“Yes, Lighting Eve! Whatever you say, but you can’t shift things like me,” She mocked back.

Oh God, did she said that out loud?

“Oh my God! You Are Lightning Eve?” The green pixie hair girl squealed, just like what I had expected.

“Yes, she is Lightning Eve and I’m Jshifter” Jess beamed as she threw her arm over me. Geez, apparently she did not realize what chaos was going to break out. I slapped my forehead and closed my eyes, not wanting to see what’s going to happen next. Jess was slow sometimes. Oops, correction, she was always slow.

“OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! LIGHTNING EVE IS HERE!”Green pixie girl ignored Jess and continued to yell at the top of her lungs.

Everyone in the room turned to look at me and started to gossip, “Are you kidding me? Did she just say Lightning Eve?”

“What? She is Lightning Eve?”

“OH MY GOD! IT’S LIGHTNING EVE!!!”

Jess and I glanced at each other and both of us thought the same thing.

Run.
