"So you're sitting with us at lunch right?" Scarlet asked me as we walked through the halls after class. "Yeah, that would be great considering I don't have anyone else to sit with."

We made our way to the cafeteria and the moment we entered i was hit by many different sights, sounds and smells. What the fuck it's like an animal house!

My thoughts were interrupted by Scarlet, "So as you can see our school is divided into many different, and cliché, groups, the obvious ones being the populars/jocks, cheerleaders/sluts, nerds and so forth." She says in a 'professional' manner.

I can't help but laugh, which causes attention to be drawn towards us and I soon notice a girl from the 'cheerleaders/sluts' approaching us. When she reaches us she sticks out a deathly clawed hand my way obviously expecting me to grab it, "Hey there, you must be the new girl I've heard so much about. Why don't you sit with us and ditch the loser?" She sends a disgusted look Scarlet's way.

My friendly gaze soon turns into a death glare ad she probably noticed it since she dropped her hand immediately. "No thanks, I don't associate myself with small minded idiots, incapable going through life without turning their face in to a cake, now if you don't mind, my friend and will be on our way." I say before grabbing Scarlet by the arm and leading her away from the girl, who seemed speechless.

After a few steps I make a sudden halt and turn to Scarlet with a sheepish smile, "Which way am I going?"

She immediately smiles back at me and points to a small group sitting at a table at the far side of the cafeteria. The group consists of two boys, obviously twins, both with chocolate brown hair, blue eyes and pale skin. There are also three girls, including Scarlet, one with bright red hair, freckled skin and hazel eyes, the other one has dark black hair and slightly tanned skin and has dark brown eyes.

As we make our way across to them I suddenly notice how quiet the room suddenly is, I look around and see people either staring or whispering and I immediately become annoyed by the attention I'm receiving.

After what felt like years, we reached the table and Scarlet immediately got on with the introductions. "Okay guys, this is Scarlet. Scarlet, the twins are Caleb and Drew, the redhead is Hannah and the dark one is Willow." She said pointing at each of them.

They all gave me a smile and a small wave.

We sat and ate for the rest of lunch and got to know each other a little better. Scarlet was part of the school newspaper and wanted to become a journalist. Hannah was a bit of a science geek. Willow was more into art and was drawing in a little book most of the time. Caleb and Drew were both on the basketball team.

When lunch was over, we all separated to our next classes, mine was music.

I quickly locate the class room, enter and find myself an empty seat at the back of the class. A few seconds later the bell rings and a teacher enters the class. She's looks to be in her mid-thirties, and quite frankly looks a bit crazy. With long curly hair that's some faded purple colour, huge ass glasses and dressed like a hot mess. "Hey everyone, I hope you've all had a good day so far. Today we will be showcasing one of our musical talents, but before we begin I do believe we have a new student in our midst, please come to the front."

I got up from my seat and made my way to the front of the classroom, and with everyone's eyes stabbing at me from all directions I start to feel slightly panicked. You see mermaids are very aware of what is going on around and have extremely sensitive senses. So if a group of plus-minus 30 people stare at you at once it kind of makes you feel a bit on edge.
