DISTRICT 1 –

Female ( Emerald/ Jenny_Uptonx )

"Breathe, just breathe," I thought to myself. I was on first; I wasn't quite certain to whether that was an advantage, or a disadvantage. I don't know why I was worried, I mean, I looked amazing! I wore this fabulous dress that even my mom would approve of, which is not an easy feat!! It was made of floaty emerald material (to match my name, and my eyes, obviously!), which was in the style of a Grecian maxi dress, to indicate wealth and stature. To add a little more glitz, the whole dress was covered in thousands of gems and diamonds. One of the many reasons why I love District 1, the luxurious themes! My long blond hair was weaved into an intricate braid, starting at the side of my head, and winding round, until it looked like a had a crown on my head. As well as the intricate design, a tiara was placed into my hair, and a veil of floaty silver material laced its way down my back and onto the floor. My skin had been studded with diamonds, so that when the spotlights hit me I would reflect their light, and sparkle. As for my make-up? Well, lets just say there was a LOT more diamonds and leave it at that! I had delicate, strappy heels on, also emerald green, which weren't too high, so even I could walk in them. I never was one for heels, I preferred strong boots, which are far easier to run and kick in.

The high pitched tinkle of Lilith Flickerman's voice introducing the mandatory show pulled me out of my glittery stupor. I needed to focus! Thankfully, my dress was strapless, showing a couple of my last fading bruises that my parents left me. I hoped that it would make me seem a fraction tougher - the public immediately disregarded you if you were blond and small, like me. One of the guards walked down the stairs leading up to the stage them, saying, "District 1, you're up."

Taking in a deep gulp of air, I shook my tense shoulders, and carefully made my way up the stairs. Some people would think that I would be feeling nervous at this point, but my parents had coached me on every part of the games, including the interviews. To be honest, the most scary thing of the interviews was the shoes! However, I was going to have to hold that though, as Lilith was introducing me to the audience.

"Ladies and Gentleman! May I present to you our first tribute of the night. From District 1, Emerald Evans-Thyme!"

The crowd let out an almighty roar, and as confidently stepped on stage, I caught a glimpse of the thousands of brightly dressed people, packed tightly into the claustrophobic amphitheatre. They were clapping and yelling; I found it hard to believe that it was for me. I stepped into the small seating area, situated centre stage, and politely kissed Lilith on the cheek. After the brief welcome, I perched onto one of the plush chairs, and prepared myself for the interview to begin. My 3 minutes of glory were ticking down already.

"So, Emerald! I know all about District 1's trade but tell me, how does the Capitol compare to District 1? OK, easy question first, I guess! "Well, obviously, it's quite similar. When dealing with a trade as luxurious as ours, the standard of living increases. I always think that the type of trade you work in will define the type of person you are."

I was quite proud of that answer. It might show that not all blonde's are dumb.

Lilith nodded in complete agreement. "I see. Do you have a particular strategy that you are going to use in the games?"

I was a bit baffled by this question. Was she stupid? I wasn't going to divulge my game plan the the whole of Panam, never mind the other tributes. You'd of thought the daughter of Ceasar Flickerman would have realised that!

"I do have a plan Lilith, but I am not going to quench your curiosity about it just yet, as I wish to last more than one night in the games." I hoped that my wry humour would fluster her. I wasn't let down.
