I let out a loud shriek as I clutched onto Harry's arm tightly, the two of us gripping onto each other desperately. "Screw you, Harry!" I groaned out, laughing weakly as I buried my face in his shoulder.
"Hey, you didn't have to come!" He argued with a laugh, yelping as he grabbed onto my body.
It was the first of October and Harry decided the two of us would skip work and go to a haunted house. I wanted to kill him for this. I was ready to jump up onto his back and make him carry me through the goddamn thing.
"Shit!" I yelled as a man lurched out at us, blood splattered his clothes and face as he held a bloody knife. Harry and I quickly shoved past him, the two of laughing as we walked through the dark, tight place. We held onto each other, hands intertwined.
"I shouldn't have come, Harry! I should've made you go through this all by yourself!" I told him over the screams and howls echoing through the building, lights flashing rapidly over our faces.
"Ah, you love me too much, Horan. That would've been mean of you. Plus, this is way more fun than work." He responded with a smirk. He was always so confident and cocky around me. But not in a 'I'm so much better than you. Kiss the ground I walk on' kind of way. It was more playful. He did it to just piss me off because he thought I was cute when I was mad. I'd be more intimidating if I were just a little bit taller, trust me.
Harry suddenly jumped, a cry leaving his lips as a skeleton fell from the ceiling. "Jesus!" He shouted, laughing as we moved on. He slid his hand into mine and moved us so I was behind him, the two of walking together through the narrow hall.
I laughed at him, shaking my head as I squeezed his hand. "Don't be such a baby, Harold." I joked with him, wrapping my free hand around his arm.
"Hey, that isn't even my name, Horan." He said, pulling my body closer to his as we continued our walk through the dark hall. It only seemed to get darker, but I could hear screaming and see bright flashing lights ahead. That was our only way out.
We slowly got closer to it, growing more anxious by the minute. "Oh, god... Harry... Fuck this. I'm turning around." I said as we got closer, shaking my head quickly as I turned my back to him. Harry laughed and tugged on my hand, spinning me back around before he wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"I'll protect you, pumpkin." He mumbled against my ear. I could feel the smile on his lips, and that only made me smile.
"Pumpkin? Are you gonna call me that all month?" I asked him with a laugh, moving my face into his neck.
"Eh, maybe. Now, c'mon. I didn't skip work with you for you to baby out on me and leave. Plus, this is the only way out. So, let's go." He said, tugging me along. I hadn't even realized we had stopped walking.
I gasped, smacking his chest. "You made me skip work. Not the other way around, jerk." I said jokingly, rolling my eyes as we continued walking.
Before Harry could respond, we made it to the room. Lights flashed, blinding my vision for a moment. Eerie music, howls, and screams echoed off the walls. People dressed as zombies banged against the chained fence that blocked us off from them. They yelled and growled, slamming their hands and bodies loudly against the fake fence. I was too in awe of what was happening to notice the one zombie sliding under the fence. I screamed loudly as he grabbed onto my ankle, growling up at me.
"Fuck! Holy shit!" I yelled and quickly freed my leg, gripping onto Harry's hand and pulling him out of the room.
"Niall!" Harry laughed as he attempted to slow me down, but I wouldn't budge. I was getting the hell out. "Niall!" I heard him yell again, laughing as we ran together.
We both would scream as people jumped out at us, both of us working our way through the path, until the very end. We shoved our way through the curtain and into the bright light of the sun, my eyes squinting at the sudden change in light. The cold wind was a huge smack in the face, but it was nice since it was insanely hot in the warehouse. Not only that, but I was running, which only made me warmer. So the crisp air was bitterly sweet.
Harry dropped my hand and set both of his on his knees as he doubled over, breathing heavily. "God, Niall.." He panted, chuckling slightly. "How the hell are you so fast with your knee all messed up?"
I laughed at that and looked at him, breathing slightly heavy as well. "Sorry, that dude scared me." I said, running my fingers through Harry's long brown hair before he stood straight again. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed his lips against his, his fingers digging into the small of my back. Humming, I kissed back with a smile. I tugged my lips away after a short moment and opened my eyes to look at him, a smile against both of our lips. "This was a lot of fun. I'm actually really glad we skipped work." I mumbled softly, giving his lips one more kiss.
Harry smiled back at me, moving his arm to wrap around my shoulder as he guided us back towards the car. "So, pumpkin spice lattes now?" He asked with a grin, and I couldn't help but smile.
