I looked at the three girls. The one in the middle was the most stunning. She had dark, not quite black but still dark, hair that fell to the center of her back. She was pale with dark circles under her bright blue eyes as if she hadn't slept in weeks and didn't plan on doing do in a while. She was tall and built to look like she didn't do anything but train. She took away the attention from the other two girls, I could only focus on the fact that they were all wearing similar dark skinny jeans, black winter boots and silver parkas. They all carried bows and had full quivers on their backs. The three girls had an almost silver aura to them.
Grover yelped, "Come in, Hunters, please, do" He ushered them inside. I said something real intelligent like, "You just blew our door off it's hinges" The middle girl stared at me calmly before rolling her eyes and looking down to Medusa who was already getting out from underneath the door. The girl studied me, "Well, where's your weapon? Cut her head off, dummy!" She gestured to the gorgon. "Right....uh....weapon...." I looked around. "You mean to tell me that Chiron didn't send you with a weapon?!" I stared at her. "Whoa, chick. Just because you can stroll on in here and nearly kill a gorgon who wasn't even bugging you doesn't mean that you can get on me about not even having a weapon! Chiron doesn't even know about us leaving! We sorta snuck off...." My voice trailed off, looking at the girl. Her blue eyes reminded me of the ocean on a stormy day. Dangerous but yet mystifying.
"Don't mind him, Tal." One of the other girls said. "Yeah," The other agreed. "He's upset because he lost the girl he loved" They both rolled their eyes. I blushed deeply. "Look, now not only do I need to stop this 'new evil' but now I have to go save Margo from wherever she's being captured." I snapped, dimly aware of Medusa now risen and standing right next to me, looking between the girl, Tal, and I.
Tal took out a thin sliver disc. At first I thought it was a CD before I saw the edges. They were wicked sharp. She could've cut through stone with them. Then I noticed she had two other ones hanging from her belt, along with two hunting knives. I was afraid that Tal was about to behead us all with the look of anger on her face. Instead, with one swift move, she threw it like a Frisbee, swiping Medusa's head clean off and, like a boomerang, returned to Tal's waiting hand.
She wiped the blood off on her jeans and replaced it on her belt.
"What was that for? I could've used her for answers about Margo and this "new evil" So thank you for you're help, but leave" I snapped, anger boiling inside of me. Grover bleated behind me, walking to my side. "Listen, Magic Mike" He whispered. "Tal is our answer for this stuff. Whether you like it or not."
I looked from Tal to Grover, back to Tal. "Is this true? Can you help us?" I asked her. Her sea blue eyes turned the color of a sea during a thunder storm. I could almost imagine being there myself...
The weather was perfectly fine, sunny, but not hot. Not cold either. The sky was a brilliant blue and the waves crashed against the shore peacefully. Seagulls flew high in the sky. I wiggled my toes, sand in between and under them. I stood about ten yards out into the ocean, feeling the water lap over my shins. Everything seemed perfect. The wind blowing my dark hair, the smell of salt water in the air. Until suddenly, lightning cracked in the distance. Dark clouds covered the sky. The ocean turned a dark grey-blue color, was it just me or was the water trying to form a face? Voices shouted from the shore but the wind was now blowing so hard I couldn't hear anything, that is, before a deep voice boomed the sky. "SOON" Was all I heard as the ocean swallowed me whole...
"ELLIOT!" Grover's voice brought me back to reality. I was lying on the floor of the hotel, looking up at the ceiling. Tal and Grover sat beside me. Grover looking ready to cry. "Wha-"
"We have to go, now" Tal said, worry weaved in her voice. I debated whether or not to tell them my dream. "But, there can't be two of them on a quest, Tal" One of Tal's hunters pointed out. "I'll go with them" Tal replied, standing. I blinked, confused. I resisted the urge to tell her no. But thinking about it, Tal might be able to help us find Margo...
"Pack up, meet me in the lobby in five minutes" Tal said, walking out of the room, her two hunters following close behind.
I sent Grover to the lobby while I double checked to make sure we had everything before walking down the hall where I I heard talking. "I know, M'lady" I heard someone say. A female it sounded like. I knew it was Tal by the annoyance in her tone. "It's a shame" Another girl's voice said. She had to be younger than Tal but her voice made me go weak in the knees because it radiated so much power. I gripped the wall and peaked around the corner to where Tal and a girl who had to be half a foot shorter than her were talking. "I was hoping you'd be my next second hand. Especially after all I've done for you" I realized in horror it was the smaller girl who said that.
"I'm sorry, M'lady but what needs to be done, must be." Tal sounded determined. The smaller girl frowned and shook her head. "So am I. Tal Aquarius. I hereby strip you from your immortality and curse you so that every monster or other living thing you kill, will get its revenge" She said. With a flash, the small girl was gone and Tal stood there, staring at the ground before blinking and walking down the hall to meet us in the lobby. The problem was getting down there before her.
I took off in a full sprint down the hall. Instead of waiting for the elevator, sprinted down the stairs.
One floor.
Two floors.
Three floors.
I was wheezing as I ran out of the hotel and sat in the passenger seat with Grover at the wheel. He gave me a quizzical look. I quickly explained between the time of Tal being at the front door and reaching the car.
