Hazel was having trouble getting ready to met her boyfriend later, and Frank was in the same dilema. But in the end, when Frank arrived to pick her up, Hazel was ready to go, she hoped that she looked ok, she did get ready in 30 minutes. Frank, on the other hand, hoped that tonight would be perfect, and wasn't paying close attention to the few stray cat hairs on Hazel's teal blouse or the few dog hairs on his boots.
By the time Hazel had realized where they were headed, they had been driving for almost half an hour. She thought back to their first date 3 years ago, and how she had just graduated from High School. Little did she know that frank was thinking about that day to, and he was so absorbed in his thoughts that he almost missed the turn into the parking lot. As they stepped out of the car, they were greeted by the smell of leaves, the slight trickling of a nearby stream, and the wind brushing through their hair.
Continuing their walk uphill, Hazel noticed that Frank's hand was slightly clammy. Giving it a slight squeeze, she wondered what could be making him nervous. Frank looked over and smiled slightly, obviously still nervous. Is it really that obvious? Frank thought to himself. He had been playing over what he would say for a while now, but he was stuck thinking about the worst outcomes possible. Soon they came over the top of the hill, and all of his fears went down the drain. No body could be unhappy looking out into the sea, especially not one like this. Frank set down a green blanket, one that they would keep for years to come, and gestured for Hazel to sit. She looked at him gratefully, and sat down, stretching her sore legs. She inhaled deeply, filling her nose with the scent of the ocean mixed with her boyfriend cologne. After a long silence, Frank began his speech. "Hazel, I have had such a good time with you. You are always in a good mood and you cheer me up when i'm feeling down. Being with you is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I never want it to end. You are my everything, so," He pulled out a box, and Hazel's eyes filled with a mixture of realization and love. "Hazel, will you marry me?" Frank opened the box and looked up at her smiling face and started smiling as well. "Yes!" Hazel exclaimed. Both of their hearts were beating fast, and both of them were smiling like maniacs. As Frank slipped the ring onto Hazel's finger, the sunset was coming to an end. But neither of them cared. All that mattered is that they were the happiest people in the world and nothing else mattered. And to end their perfect night, they leaned in, and shared their first kiss as an engaged couple.
